Now, almost halfway into the 10th year of the 21st. century, it's evident that changes are taking place rapidly. great and longstanding institutions have and are crumbling while we watch. New ways, means and methods develop faster than they can be understood. Today's state of the art is tomorrows old hat.
A few things seem to remain relatively the same. People still depend on other people for almost everything. Most of the success or failure one experiences is due to the actions other people take, or impressions that they form. These actions and impressions can be long lasting, even permanent and they can be for good or bad. The human condition is of paramount concern, particularly to those of us who make our living convincing others to buy from or join with us. In most cases we need others to give us money. It's the very last thing we ask for but it's by far the most important. We have to have it. we need it to live. Getting people to give us their money is hard. The're indecisive, they worked hard for it, their scared, they have another purpose and they're just not interested. Don't look down on them; we're all the same. When they give us the money, we clutch it both hands tightly or quickly put it out of sight. we become unapproachable and nothing anyone says will persuade us to to part with our money.
What works? In my opinion the best form is the simplest, most truthful, just lay it on the line. People must trust someone in order to give them their money. If they trust us they will soon come to like us and the sale is half made. Everyone wants value for their money. we must use the trust and the likeability that we have earned to demonstrate the value of our offering. If we're successful, thats the other half of the sale and their money is now in our pocket. The internet has changed nothing. People must be won, They still must be convinced. The best convincer is called a salesperson and the best salesperson is going to develop the best website and they're going to make the best money from that website. t's still the person that makes the sale.
What doesn't work! They can fool some of the people all of the time and they can fool all they people some of the time...for a little while. The scam if innovative enough, works for a little while but people quickly catch on and they spread the word like a wildfire. Most of the time scammers end up worse off than when they began. It just doesn't pay. A few notches up the way are the slick Sam's or fast Eddie's. Call them what you will. They come in a lot of varieties. You know them by their websites. You know, loud music, 6 clowns spinning on one leg with balloons popping in the background. Wording in 4 or 5 type sizes and in 7 or 8 blaring colors. Sometimes they have a pitchman who in a loud, overenthusiastic voice tries to convince viewers that Blue is Brown because the cow jumped over the moon. As we scroll endlessly down and down past pie after pie in the sky; at last we come to the offer: We give them $11.95 and they return $114,250.00.... a MONTH. Of course the $11.95 is in print so small it can barely be seen and the $114,250.00 covers the whole page. It amazes me that anyone falls victim, being as boldly deceptive as they are. Oh well, some tell me life is a circus anyway. The people behind these websites don't fare too well either. Most don't make any real money. Some don't even cover the cost of their production. Most people are not easily fooled. In todays world people are probably even more prone to be cynical than they were even a few a few years ago. The savy marketer will associate themselves with a product that has the best possible value to others, then use his best efforts and talents to sculpt an approach most likely to convince a thinking person to part with his hard earned money. Even then it isn't going to be easy. Good hunting! Continued good fortune to all.
