Hello All, I'm a teacher living in NYC and needed to make some extra cash just to live so I bought Holly's book to see if she could help. I am really not much of a computer user so I will need a lot of help. I've been reading some of the posts here on this forum and everyone seems very helpful and nice. My first question: Today I tried to sign up for Amazon.coms affiliate program but they asked for my website name and URL of my main website. I actually don't have one yet because I was going to try to post some links in some forums. In Holly's book "Making Money Without a Website" comes before "Website Design and Development" so I was just going in order. Should I just go ahead and start to design and develop my website? I've really just started and just have been doing product and niche research for the past week or so.
Thanks in advance!

Hi msteacher,
Well you still have a few ways to go. It's probably important to get started on your own website as soon as possible to, but, you can still follow some of the methods without a website. You could even start to utilize some of that stuff while you are building your site.
Amazon is only one Affiliate Network and program. There are many that you can join without supplying a website address. For instance, Clickbank etc.
There are many, just start going through some of the ones Holly has listed and you will find some that do not require you to have a website.
welcome to the forum msteacher....were here to help, if you have more questions.

Hi Msteacher, and welcome! Good question, by the way. Davin, I was going to be at this same situation soon, with Amazon and needing a website URL. If I have a HubPage account and make a Hub for the 1st product that I want to market through Amazon, do you think I could use that address? If so, then this could be another option for Msteacher.
Thanks for your thoughts on this!

hmmm, actually guys. I have my doubts. They usually wouldn't consider a HubPage or Squidoo type of address as a proper address for most programs. Hmmm, I must say I'm a little surprised that Amazon asks for one especially since you can profit and market from Amazon directly in widgets right in Hubpages as an option. They ask for your ID as an option when you create hubs etc.
I am signed up with Amazon, but it's been a while since I signed up, so I don't remember the whole sign-up process of that particular program.
If you guys are really determined to use Amazon I could give you the address to a couple of domains that I own, just to enter so you can finish the signup process. There are a couple of domains I've purchased but didn't end up doing a whole lot with them. If it will help you just to finish the signup process you could use those addresses I suppose without any hassle.
Let me know...

Thanks for your reply, Davin. I wanted to sign up with Amazon just because I know they have the products that I want to promote and write reviews for but I'm sure I can look around at some other affiliates for now. This will also get me started on my website too. I'm really excited to think that I am going to make my own website. I never thought I'd be doing anything like that.
Nice to meet you.
