My regards to the community, we all have been into marketing our products by different means and taken into consideration the online market there are numerous ways to get your service running, I have heard quite a few but what are the methods employed by you people to get into the online biz?

I have been into internet marketing of my services and products and have used affiliate programs as a good choice. Then there are other ways like giving away something, joining a social network, if you have a website based good content you can employ SEO works. But, I recently found an interesting deal at adntube . Here you have a platform for marketers and videographers and the marketers can place a proposal for having their products or services, website ads into the videos made by the videographers and then there is a good marketing strategy under way as the videos are uploaded on many sites were many people see them and thus the promotion of their products, services or website is done on a grand basis.

Using video does seem to be getting more and more popular. I haven't really gone that route yet myself, although I have added a few video clips from others related to my sites on certain appropriate pages.

I guess for me the main marketing method I have learned and have continued to stick with is building a solid niche website based on a particular topic.

It may be slow at first to build and grow your traffic, but once you get the ball rolling, it is an every increasing business that you can monetize in a variety of ways. I've become very fond of this method of online marketing.

I focus mainly on long term marketing like article marketing.
Although this marketing won't get the visitors fast, but down the years i will continue to get visitors from the articles.

Videos can be really helpful at times, but I've seen some whose "style" just did not appeal to me. As a result I cicked off before gaining any of the information that was trying to be conveyed.

As Happy Wife and Cherie27 have both written, those areas are more where I'm comfortable. Articles or pages with excellent content offered in websites, blogs, HubPages, Squidoo, or places like EZine Articles have a lot of value. This is where I am focusing right now.

I use traffic exchange. There are many free sites that you may want to look at. I don't know if they make money, I am just starting, but they do bring a lot of traffic to your subject matter.
