John,

Thanks for throwing this question out there. I recently had a few more revenue generating blog ideas to generate and planned on using wordpress, until I too learned adsense isn't even allowed. Your unsuccessful attempt confirmed it wasn't just me??? I think for now, I will continue with the blogger (google) mode as well. I can see why people like the wordpress template if they have the money to spend on hosting. Personally, I am trying to get a few blogs and lenses to generate adsense, affiliate, and other income to even get to the point of paying to host a few sites which is my ultimate goal.

Regards,

BradK

In answer to Isabeau.

Wordpress, is better and you can place ads on it as long as it isn't the Free Wordpress and it's hosted somewhere else. With Holly's deal she has it hosted on Bluehost it only ends up being around 7 bucks a month or so. I believe to have that price kick in though you may have to pay a year in advance. I would just go ahead and pay a year in advance if you can regardless, then it's out of the way and you don't have to worry again for a full 12 months.

Anyways, cheers and Wordpress is a good solution because it has a ton of plugins etc, and although I haven't really tried Joomla yet, I'm told it's much easier to understand especially when starting out.

Say you host a site for a year ( Min right) and you want to change the domin name, look of website because your niche s cks. Can you do that say 1/2 way through the year?

Okay I'm stupid what is better Joomla or Wordpress. Once one gets a clue wordpress is best in the end right??

THANKS

Well with Wordpress or Joomla you can change the look and feel of your site pretty much at any time with different themes.

Usually on one hosting account you can host many domains, I'm sure Bluehost offers this. While it is a pain in the butt to change the name of your first hosted domain in the root of your account, you can add and takeway add-on domains pretty much at will.

As a matter of fact, on the root of my account I have a domain and site that I pretty much abandoned, but it's still there because I have quite a few added domains and sites on the same account, so rather than go through the hassle of creating a whole new hosting account etc, or starting over, because if I change the root, all my databases etc. would be wiped and I would have to start from scratch so I'm told.

My best advice, try and go with a domain your going to be happy with. And if for instance, you find another niche you feel is better afterwards, just put it on an add-on domain. Purchasing additional domains is usually cheap. I only pay 7.99 per domain from Dynadot, so for more niches etc. added later it's relatively cheap.

I think Holly would tell you the same as far as Wordpress or Joomla. If your new to this, start with Wordpress in my opinion!

Either way, both are great programs!
