Joomla - the best cms that nobody understands 2007/06/19 13:35
Hi Everyone!

For us Joomlers: Here are a few more help sites:

http://compassdesign.net/
http://jommlashack.com/
http://mambers.com/ (I think Joomla is an outgrowth of Mambo)
http://acajoom.com/ (The email service)
http://joomlatutorials.com/
http://joomla.org/

After some more poking around I found 2 things: 1) Amazon(UK) has a Joomla fur Dummies, but I am not going to try to get that from UK.

2) This one may help: http://www.redevolution.com/

There is a free pdf called Joomla End User Doc. You must create a log in to get it. It took me a while to find my way to the free stuff on the site, but it was there. I am reading it now.

Good Luck to us!

I so totally agree with you. Joomla is not for beginners. Unfortunately Hollys book does not take this into consideration. She or someone from the help desked e-mailed me stating she is considering to add this to her next update. Mean while I am changing over to SBI.

Can't say I blame you. If I hadn't gone with SBI, I have a strong suspicion I'd still be struggling to build my first site!

hi,

I think that everyone must start with jommla from here:

The content in joomla is divided into categories. For adding first content page you must create a category. For example named Nokia N95 . It was for me strange in the beginning, but now it seems very logical approach to the site structure.

well... for the really really beginner..
I suggest start from blogger.com, then wordpress.com, and finally joomla!..

And it's definitely worth your time spending on learning joomla! simply it is so scalable. It makes endless possible extended features to your site.

The learning curve may be steep in the beginning. but, it's worth it in the end
