Drupal and ZenCart vs Joomla 2007/01/23 02:24
Hi folks! This is my first actual post (I don't count the intro "hello!" post!) so be gentle.

I've been doing quite a bit of toying with ZenCart and Drupal on different sites for a few months and initially was looking at setting up a few sites using both of these, however I've just been reading that many of you guys are opting for Joomla which I've not used before...

ZenCart is more of a hands-on technology I find and allows for SSL integration and a lot more tweaking with CSS etc, not to mention scrolling sales boxes and other fanciness - Think 'reselling', 'Private Labels' and 'Software' sales.

Drupal on the other hand is a lot simpler and easier to maintain, tweak, upload etc - Affiliate/Adwords.

Obviously I'll be trying out all three to see which will be better suited for different things but I'd like some opinions if poss on your thoughts of the three technologies?

Thanks!

I found this comparison - http://forum.joomla.org/index.php?topic=4364.msg35306

I'm not sure personally because I haven't tried Drupal yet - although I have heard it is a powerful cms.

ONE IMPT THING TO CONSIDER (I just read about the two cms) and read that Drupal has SEO friendly URLS generated automatically. The MAJOR issue I have had with Joomla (the only one actually - but it's a big one) is with having to deal with long strange looking URLS -then trying to correct them by using a special extension/plugin which sometimes works and other times does not. I am going to test out DRUPAL this week and I'll keep you posted.

During your Drupal testing Holly, definitely check out "PathAuto" - http://drupal.org/project/pathauto

It makes sites VERY clean indeed, as you can see on the site I designed for my better half... http://www.crazythingsemmasaysanddoes.co.uk/

hi,

I just would like to say about Joomla with VirtueMart and iDevAffiliate. Never got three programs properly working together and switched to osCommerce.
