Natural Link Growth? 2008/10/25 18:42
Is it true that Google looks for natural link growth for newly established websites?

Meaning that you would get penalized for having too many links all of a sudden pointing to a newly established site in too short of a time frame?

And does it also look for variation in the anchor text of inbound links? Meaning Google may penalize a site if all its inbound link anchor text keep having the same phrase all the time?

Yes, that is absolutely true Saj. In the end it's the natural link building practices that pay off. The last thing you need is to get slapped and de-indexed from Google altogether.

We have actually seen it happen to a few members here, that were trying to take shortcuts by using some "automated" services which killed them in the end really.

Anything that says something ridiculous like,

Submit your site to 3,999,000 search engines instantly, or get 3,000 backlinks by tomorrow etc. etc. I'm sure you get the picture.

Stay the hell away from these services. Most of these services just use some quick software blasters and are only out for your funds. They don't give a care about your website, only their profit.

A word of warning to all...

That's not to say that there aren't some automated softwares out there that can help you, but still, you must be smart about what your are doing. Give Google what it wants...no sense trying to trick them..it never pays off

Thanks for the clarification Davin.

I just used a manual directory submission service which offered a "slow submission" option (10-20 directories a day, 50-100 directories in a week sort of thing) and they even allowed you to enter 2 alternative descriptions and 9 alternative anchor texts!

www.best-web-directories.com

But silly me, I still used the same key phrase in all of the alternative anchor texts, just different text around it. Hope I don't get slapped for it. Anyway, I'll see how I go.

Thanks once again Davin for your help.

Oh and while on that note, Holly recommends:

http://www.article-submission-service.com/

For article submission in her ebook. He submits your articles to 230 directories manually. Does he do that pretty much all in one day or spread out?

I'm just concerned because I pretty much only created a site a few days ago, and don't want google to look at me funny.

Yes, both of those methods are fine Saj. Just remember to use a quality service where it does mention, "slow and natural" distribution etc. or something similar.

The companies that mention this are usually well aware of the repercussions if it isn't done properly, so they do take the time and effort.

It's just the one's that make absolutely ridiculous claims is what I was talking about when I said, "Stay away from certain services."

Cheers
