Could anyone explain the purpose / benefits of-
Tracking Id(TID)?
(for affiliate signups)

And does it have to be unique for each affiliate program?

The main purpose of tracking IDs is to help you track where your sales are coming from. For example, perhaps you have written an article, put up some advertisements on USfreeads, and did some pay per click advertising campaigns. Without tracking, it would be difficult to determine where your sales came from, but with tracking, you could tell which sAles came from articles, USfreeads, or PPC advertising - it basically tells you which method of advertising was the most effective.
