I need help with the "click here" tool 2007/10/23 23:03
Can anyone explain to me how you use the "click here" feature when writing copy? I've been saying "copy and paste the url below into your browser." I'm a true Newbie in every sense of the word and I appreciate all the help I can get! If this helps -- I'm posting ads as an affiliate -- starting small -- working my way up

Thanks.

Hi, dremarla!

Sounds like you want to create an HTML link! It's pretty simple, really. Here's an example:

<a href="http://www.xyz.com"> Click here! </a>

This will work when the forum software will let you enter HTML directly. In this and some other forums, you will need to replace the greater and less than signs with square brackets. For and example of that, reply to this message and "mouse over" the URL button in the Boardcode bar.

Hope this helps!

Whew Wheee I wish I knew what you were talking about! LOL I take it that the HTML link is hidden somewhere and the "click here" is showing in the copy I write. But where and how do I imbed the HTML? I'm sorry I don't know was a boardcode bar is.

In terms of affiliate marketing on a scale of 1 to 10 I'm a negative 5! I'm going to keep trying though until I get it.

Thanks for your help

LOL, ok.

Embedding the HTML can be as simple as copy and paste, depending on what you are pasting it in to. Just give it a try and see if it works.

That won't work on this forum however. It has uses "Boardcode," basically a simplified vervion of HTML that uses sqare brackets to open and close its tags. Go ahead and reply to this post. (Because I just KNOW you're going to thank me in a minute! ) Just above the area where you will be typing your thank you, you will see a small area with buttons in it with the word "Boardcode" just to the left. When you put your mouse cursor over one of the buttons, the yellow bar will change to give you a sample of how to use boardcode tags. right now, you're interested in the button that says "URL." You can also highlight some text in your message and click the button and it will automatically enclose the selected text with the relevant tags. Experiment a little and you will get the hang of it. Try a few different buttons just for fun.

After a while you will start to get in the habit of looking for these little tools in all of the various online editors you run across. They all have their little quirks so just look, play, experiment and test. Before you know it, it will start to become second nature. The buttons on some editors will say "link" or have icons of a globe or a couple of links of chain.

Good luck!

[b]Thanks so much for clearing that up[b] I also found out from click bank that the format of the hoplink that I was using to place ads could only be used in certain areas. In order to use the click herefeature I would have to use the html on my own website.

I hope this comes out right! LOL

Thanks again for the info! You guys are the best!
