Anyone here speak Clickbank-ese? 2007/03/04 02:12
I signed up with Clickbank, and I'm looking through some e-books to sell in the particular niche that I've chosen (for now). I'm just wondering what some of these numbers and figures under the names of the books mean.

For example. . .here's what it says under one book I'm looking at:

$/sale: $17.09 | %/sale: 50.0% | %refd: 26.0% | grav: 2.99

$/sale and %/sale seem to be relatively obvious, I think. What do the other two stand for, and what kind of figures should I be looking for with those?

Thanks!

Hi I am somewhat familiar with Clickbank and here is what those numbers mean!

The first one $/sale $17.09 is what you will get per sale.

The next number % sale 50% is the percentage of the total sale that you get so this product is probably priced around 37-39 dollars.

The % refd 26% tells you that that 26% of the sales of that product come from affiliate marketers referrals.

And the last one grav 2.99 is the number of distinct affiliates who earned a commission by referring a paying customer to the publisher's products. This is a weighted sum and not an actual total. For each affiliate paid in the last 8 weeks they add an amount between 0.1 and 1.0 to the total. The more recent the last referral, the higher the value added.

Hope that clears it up for you Just keep in mind the higher the gravity, the more sales that are converting for that topic, I like to choose products with a gravity of 100 or higher, but that is not a specific rule just personal.

Dang. . .then it appears as though I've chosen a bad niche. . .out of all the e-books on ClickBank in the niche I'm looking at, I don't see a "grav" rating of higher than 3.6.

Back to the drawing board, I guess.

Well, although a high gravity CAN mean something is an easier sell, keep in mind that a lower gravity also means lower competition.

If you have done research into the niche, and you feel it is a good one, it may not be a bad idea to try a small campaign and see what happens.

Generally, like Charles, I prefer a higher gravity...but I did want to put another option out there.

Warmly,
Kevin

Gracias for the responses so far.

See, I'm trying to keep myself in a subject I know something about to start with. . .maybe if this is successful enough, I can invest in a few things that can help me find more obscure things. I tend to have a bit of trouble thinking "out of the box" at times.

There are plenty of products on CB on the subject matter, so it's not a matter of finding material. I just don't know how much to commit to at this point. . .domain names and all that sort of stuff.

I'm anxious to get started, but I don't know where to start. . .this is a problem. (-:
