well thanks for getting back to me. Yea, I tried that too because I definitely know I can screw it up, lol.

I was told by a few people that if others have certain security settings on their computer it messes up the link, but I am not sure how concrete that is.

Who knows, I'll figure it out at some point.

Thanks again,

Michael,

I feel your pain. I just lost out on a Clickbank commission.

Similar situation, a friend purchased a product from my site and told me to look out for a credit which never arrived.

I emailed support and never heard back.

When I read their FAQ's, it stated: "The affiliate (if any) we associate with any sale is determined by an automated tracking system. Any decision made by this system is final and not subject to petition or debate."

When I read further, I think this is what must've happened:

10. Can I send customers directly to the URL that ends in "/?hop=nickname"?

No. The "?hop=..." is just information we pass along to the publisher's web site AFTER recording a legitimate referral via hop.clickbank.net. If you bypass hop.clickbank.net there is no way for us to track your referral.

Hang in there.

One way to see if your aff link get passed is to visit the site with your aff link. Then click on the Order or But Now button. This will bring you to the Clickbank Secured Order Form (No, you do not have to buy the product).

Look below the copywrite at the bottom of the page you should see this:

Copyright © 2006 Click Sales Inc. ........
[affiliate = XXXXXXX]

If the affiliate = YourID then the clickbank cookie was passed properly.

PS. Speaking of typo's I found one in my post showing the tracking link so I have corrected it to the right format. (I missed the ? before ?tid)

I just did an interesting test. I am in the finishing stages of creating an e-book. I was testing my all of my links and saw something interesting with regards to the clickbank products I link to.

I tried to cloak the links via the resources provided by clickbank. They suggest using php or javascript. I am more comfortable with php so I created a php redirect for each product. Of the four products only one showed my user name in the hop=xxxxxx section of the url. My next step was to check if my user name got passed to the transaction page. None of the transaction pages had my user name. One even had a different user name.

I logged into linkbrander and created 4 links to the products. Tested all 4 links and each successfully loaded the sales page. Went to the transaction page of each product and all 4 had my user ID and tracking code I am using.

Where I am allowed I am going to use linkbrander links to clickbank products.

Hi there! Dahost thanks for sharing that info about the link branding and clickbank links. I've heard a lot of good things about linkbrander. If anyone is interested, I also have my link cloaking software.

I did finally hear back from Clickbank regarding my lost commission. They looked up the transaction and found no affiliate credit associated with that purchase.

It was suggested that perhaps the purchaser had cookies turned off on their computer.

Their suggestion was to have the purchaser contact Clickbank for a return and have them repurchase the product using my affiliate link, making sure cookies are enabled.

That's a lot of follow-up. My concern is that this is the only one that I know about. How many others have slipped under the radar?

Anyway, I initially said CB never responded, so I wanted to clarify that upon receiving their email.
