Adsense tips I've learned 2006/11/29 01:37
Adwords tip. Remember to turn off content search since much of that traffic is not well targeted and can cost you lots of Mulah $$$. Also you must turn if off everytime you make a new campaign and I think even a new adgroup you'll have to make sure on that.

Grouping your keywords with other similar key words into different adgroups. and allowing your ads to have those key words in the titles of the ads and the body of the ads increases the value of the ad.

using negative words effectively. for instance if your product says "free custom boat designs" you might want to add these to your keyword list:
-free
-designs
-custom

because if you don't any search with the word free will go to your add like free baby clothe coupons, which has nothing to do with your target market. Same with designs and custom.

You wouldn't want to lose money with someone looking for custom pottery or tattoo designs. so use negative words effectively. These will narrow searches only to phrases that contain the words free, custom, boat, and designs in the search terms and make it harder for it to be generalized in the wrong searches.

Did you know that you can even target your ads to certain cities and certain times of the day?

Just some tips for ya.

LOL I don't know why but your name was on at the author for a little while. He he.

Another tip I learned the hard way. When it comes to Clickbank vendors that have lead capture pages as their page for your affiliate link, I'd stay away from.

I had ran 2 campaigns that I had vented about in the old Journal site and I think here too, where I had accumulated
Clicks: 1,443
969 direct search and 474 content (should have turned off content network)

Impressions: 61,531
CTR: about 2.34% (considered to be sensible by most)
Avg CPC: about $0.09
Cost: $130.40
Avg. Pos. about 3rd

Note:
Google doesn't like all of their exact numbers being revealed so I put numbers so close your get the true idea but did not want to violate Google's rules either.

Most would say that wasn't a bad campaign. I was linked as an affiliate to a product that had only a lead capture opportunity on the sales page. I did check to see if I sign up for the email subscribtion and ordered would my affiliate name show and it did.

Problem: Most people who go to those lead capture pages join and normally leave it at that. There's no compelling urge to buy anything just yet through your fresh affiliate link. They've accomplished a small task of joining and they usually feel,"I look at it later" Other part of the problem is when the emails go out to them in this particular case any of the links are not with your affiliate link in them so you would have to hope that there is an extended life cookie that would still stick if they ordered later.

To let you know How many sales I've seen up 'til today from this program that boasts a high conversion rate...
... 0, Zilch, Zip, Nada, Not even 1 affiliate sale, at least that went to me. I can almost bet that the vendor saw at least 1 or 2 sales if not more from my efforts but it cost me over $100 to send free leads to this vendor.

I've cut my losses and won't even let it brake my stride. I know I'm on to potentially good things

Wanted to share. Don't slam your hand in the same car door (if you get my drift)

I say, make and design your own lead capture page, put in your autoresponder script, grab the opt-in for yourself, then have the page redirect to the affiliate sales page. At least you get the person on your own list. Or have it redirected to a page in which you offer a bunch of bonuses for buying the affiliate product through you. Davin

Excellent advice both of you! I'll be taking those tips onboard when I next launch an Adwords campaign.

Funny to see that I'm not the only one who confuses Adwords with Adsense! I noticed that the title of this thread is the website based version Adsense but talks about Google's search engine based ads Adwords, lol.

I'd also like to add that it's useful to try making your keywords more specifically targeted by putting them in square brackets - eg. [make money online]. This way, you only match your keyword to that exact search term.

Likewise, I've also found it can be a good idea to list each keyword in the following way:
[make money online] - exact matching
"make money online" -phrase matching
make money online - general search

And keep the only version that converts best once impressions have been monitored for a while.

How do you guys get the right keyword?

I always have problems finding keywords for my adwords.

I lost quite a small amount of money on adwords.

Do you have any keyword research tool or something like that?
Recently, i tried to find my keyword in Overture. But the website is not very stable.

Do you have something to recommend for the keyword tool?

Pls advise
