Work from home but accomplish nothing? 2008/09/04 20:23
Like so many of you I work from home every day and often I find it hard to accomplish anything. Either things get crazy around the house or I have to run erands.

I have started prioritizing myself and I noticed I am getting much more done. Here is what I do:

1. I get up really early in the morning before anyone else and get the main things done that I need to.

2. I take breaks from home-work durring the day and do my online work then.

3. I know when to quit. I don't work myself too hard every day to the point that I get sick of getting online.

4. I allow time for my work to work. I don't expect results over-night so when my paycheck is lower I don't get too upset.

Thats really all I do now but I notice my productivity has gone way up and my stress way down. Good luck all!

Hi JennyO,
I have been reading your posts and am brand new to this. I am happy to see that you are having success. Congrats! I am hoping to be a stay at home mom within a year and am a little overwhelmed by everything as I decide where to start. If you had any words of advice for me I would really appreciate it.

I completely understand your concerns, I had to schedule myself, because my biz has grown in such a short time! I love it though. You guys keep up the good work.

Be blessed,
Sandra

Hi Jenny!!! I totally agree with you on everything you said. The main thing that helps me personally is waking up super early to work before chaos breaks out...I mean before my child wakes up! Kids can be such bottomless pits of energy it is hard to be around them without being impacted by it. For me, if I can wake up around 4 am or 5 am and get all the tough tasks done then - I am pretty good the rest of the day. I seem to get much more done that way. I get upset if I "sleep in" and wake up after 6 am though because I am not in the right state of mind. Some people work better and accomplish more at night - others in the morning. I like mornings!!!

Thanks for the posts everyone! It is nice to know I am not the only one up before the sun . It makes me feel like I have a few friends out there who are as crazy as me!
