Dreamweaver VS SBI 2008/09/28 22:56
I was wondering what everyone's opinion is on the difference's.

Actually more as to how it would apply to me. I have Dreamweaver already but I do not have a clue how to use it yet. I am going to have my computer guy give me a head start in learning the ins and out's but I will be starting completely from scratch. I know 0 about putting up websites.

From the research I have been doing lately I feel confident I could accomplish most of the things SBI offers and from what I have read Dreamweaver is kinda a must have as you get going in IM.

Since I am starting from Zero knowledge should I go with SBI for my first test sites and just pay the 300$ while I learn Dreamweaver or could I start from scratch and learn Dreamweaver fairly quickly.

For the most part I know all the things that need to be done, I just don't know how to do it yet.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Brian. From what I have gathered, from the posters here who have had success from SBI, as well as reading online and looking at other peoples review, it seems the SBI teaches you all you need to know to get going with building and promoting the sites. Since you have already invested in Dreamweaver, I can understand that you don't want to waste that investment. Maybe you could consider using SBI as your "elementary" education, which will allow you to get your experience, and begin generating money, then, you might be ready for your "high school" education and begin using Dreamweaver and create with it...even if you still need assistance from your friend in learning Dreamweaver.

I'm seriously considering using SBI when I'm ready for a true site. Still using HubPages and Blogger.com as I'm experimenting putting into practice what I'm learning, but eventually I do believe I will need a website(s) and I really think SBI is in the top possibilities as options for me.

Hope this helps!

Until next time...Annie

Re:Dreamweaver VS SBI 2008/09/29 00:32
Hi Brian and Annie,

As I'm sure you already know I LOVE SBI!

Well, the reason being is that when I started over a year and a half ago, I knew absolutely nothing about computers except how to check my email and how to buy stuff. Kind of a dangerous mix!

Anyway, my first website was the free site from Holly built using wordpress and hosted by bluehost. I have struggled with it every step of the way. It's my own fault because I just do not care much for the technical part of building websites. I like the creative part...building content. I keep it only because it pays for itself.

I am on my second SBI! website. I have a third one that is paid for but I am going to wait until after the holidays to start it.

There are people who use dreamweaver, frontpage, and even NVU to build their pages and then upload them to their SBI! website because they like the tools that SBI! has to offer.

I know that $299 seems like a lot of money but the tools that you get with it can't be found anywhere else. You can read about them here: SBI! tools

Just to let you know, I felt the same way about the price but it really did pay for itself in a very short amount of time. I started my first SBI! site in March. It's only been 6 months and all three of my websites are paid for and I'm getting a check from adsense every month. My traffic is continually growing and I'm making between $50 and $100 a month from affiliate links and ebooks. There was a couple on Oprah last week that used SBI! to build a website about their passion (which is rving). Oprah found their website using a simple google search. Major colleges (like The University of Arizona) are beginning to teach SBI! on their campuses. This program really does work.

Here are some samples of SBI! websites: Click Here!

If you really want to get a idea of what SBI! owners are really saying, go to the SBI! forum as my guest. You'll need to use: mamas-southern-cooking.com as both your username and password. You won't be able to post but you will be able to read until you're hearts content.

Now, I know you are probably thinking that this is quite a sales pitch...well, that's exactly what it is. But just like it says in Holly's book...only sell something that you truly believe in and approve of because your reputation is on the line. That is why I endorse SBI! It really does work...I stake my reputation on it!

Anyway, my only regret is that I didn't try SBI! sooner.

Take care,
Kathy

Re:Dreamweaver VS SBI 2008/09/29 08:03
I don't think it's really fair (to Dreamweaver) to compare Dreamweaver to SBI. It's my understanding that Dreamweaver is an html editor. SBI is a business building package - so it has a lot more to offer than an editor.

It would probably be more practical to compare Dreamweaver to SBI's Block-builder as a comparison of hammer to hammer. The Block-builder is one of SBI's tools that make it a lot easier for 'newbies' to accomplish the task of building a professional website without having the steep learning curve of Dreamweaver or another type of editor. You don't have to learn any code with the Block-builder. It's more like filling out a form and the tool builds the code into your page for you automatically.

I started with the Block-builder and am still using it for my sites. I've learned a lot of html over the last couple of years so I am thinking about using an html editor to build my fourth site. There are distinct advantages of using an editor over the Block-builder. You can more easily use includes and make site wide changes with a one simple change. It's not something I could have tackled in the beginning, but I'm feeling braver now that I know a bit more.

The thing is, even though I may use an editor (probably NVU or something basic like it) and upload my own html this next time around, I will still build the site through SBI. The Block-builder is just one feature. The rest of the SBI (SiteBuildIt) package includes the domain, hosting, brainstorming tools, ezine, autoresponder, automatic search engine submissions for each new page, etc.

Sitesell, the parent company of SBI, does what they do well. As Kathy stated earlier, they have developed a solid reputation that even universities are adopting as business building classes.

I hope you see what I mean about an unfair comparison. It's like comparing a hammer to a toolbox full of tools - not fair at all.

Blessings,
Angie

Thanks Annie, Angie, and Kathy,

I am concidering using SBI while I learn how to do things on my own. How many site's are included in the 299$ fee. It really isn't any more expensive than host9 or Gator but with the later you can have as many sites as you want.

It's $299 per year per site. But unlike other web hosting sites, SBI! will give you not only your domian name but all of the tools you will need, inclucing wordtracker, to build your website. If you are a complete newbie, they have the block by block sitebuilder where you won't need ot know html but if you do, you can use it with the block builder. If you know html and have an editor, like dreamweaver, you can upload your own pages.

Like Angie said, you really can't compare it to anything else. There are no tools on the market that can compare to the ones you'll find with SBI!

Take care,
Kathy
