Article submission service or DIY? 2008/04/03 08:50
I just got Honest Riches about a week and a half ago. I'm learning and moving along fairly steadily, but I'm learning that backlinks are one of the most important things needed to get a high search position. I found an article submission service that charges $14 per 100 sites your article is submitted to. They send to over 800 sites.

Is this a good idea, or is it better to manually check and submit to these services yourself? I can see how it would save a ton of time, but do they really deliver the goods?

As a starter, I suggest you try submitting the articles yourself to test it out first and see the responses. But if you have no budget problem or is always busy, you may go for article submission service. 800 sites can really bring in traffic if you use that service.

I agree,
Better to check out the main ones such as outlined in Holly's book and submit to these first and then do a search to find the other highest ranking sites since these are the ones you should go for.

Well, yes. After starting a ways back now, and having used to do all of those submissions myself, go with a service. It saves so much time, so much,....... I would still do the main one's myself just to make sure they are getting there like Ezine Articles, Go Articles, SearchWarp and perhaps a couple others. But for mass distribution use a service. The one's that Holly suggests are just fine. You may also check out Isnare, or one of the newer gems I've found is http://www.articlemarketer.com . They only charge $50 quarterly for unlimited article distributions. If you consider the time you save as compared to the cost. It's so worth it.

Cheers

Question: If I submit my article via a service, and then I submit it manually through a couple of sites myself, will the manual submissions and the service submissions end up being duplicated in a way that could harm my site's page ranking or SERP location?

Hi,

I am by no means an expert on this stuff, but I have read so much conflicting info on duplicate content that it blows my mind.

The bottom line is that it won't hurt your website if you don't actually have the duplicate content on your website. It sounds like any duplicate content would be your articles on article sites and other peoples sites.

Just because the article links to your website doesn't hurt your website, because at the end of the day anyone can link to your website.

However, it might hurt the rankings of those articles individually. So maybe just one of the articles would get ranked highly because the search engine recognizes that the others are just duplicates. Again this is up for debate, because I have read some quite convincing info that a lot of this duplicate content stuff is a fallacy and that submitting the same article to lots of different sites doesn't actually hurt the SEO of those articles.

However, to be safe, the best solution would be to submit different variations to directories, however this can be time consuming.

I used to use submityourarticle.com because they could vary the article for me so that each directory submitted to would get a variation of the article making duplicate content issues less likely. However I have recently heard a few negative things about them so still debating whether to use them this time round.

I have just started promoting my new website and plan to submit an article to ezinearticles.com and then submit a variation of it to insnare.com

Not sure what the results will be but, if you are interested I will keep you updated.
