What I mean is:

Is it better to find one highly searched keyword with few competing websites and make that your target? Or is it better to find several keywords that have high search numbers and few competing websites (as long as they are all targeted around a particular niche)?

My hunch, although I'm new at this, is that more is better, for the simple fact that if I can find 10 keywords that have a combined search number of 5000 searches a day, and less than 500,000 websites for those keywords combined, then that's better than finding one keyword with 400 searches and 200,000 websites. Am I wrong?

If you are building a website, you want to find 4 "good" keywords or keyword phrases for each of your pages. Holly recommends "good" as being under a 1,000,000 competing sites and searced for 200+ times per day. This would be for your homepage. For the inside pages in your website, you could go with much less volume for your keywords.

When searching earlier today, I found six keyword phrases that are related to my topic and affiliate program I'm marketing. Here were the WordTracker results:

Phrase 1: 397 daily searches, 4290 competing websites.
Phrase 2: 376 daily searches, 206000 competing websites.
Phrase 3: 288 daily searches, 2810 competing websites.
Phrase 4: 400 daily searches, 9460 competing websites.
Phrase 5: 310 daily searches, 416000 competing websites.
Phrase 6: 624 daily searches, 23500 competing websites.

Is that too good to be true? Am I missing something? Or is everybody and their dead brother doing this too? Based on Holly's "200+ search/<1 million competing websites" rule, this seems like I'm on the right track.
