Hi everyone 2008/08/25 19:03
I've been looking around for an honest solution to online marketing and making money online but to my dismay a lot of it is BS ran by crooks!

I finally found a web site that was digging out rip off. But then I started to doubt the legitimacy of this web site as well. Here my story.

I was trying to figure out if RichJerk was a scam or now. Out of curiousity. I stubbled upon
http://www.ripoff-review.com/. They basically monitor web site and try their programs and let you know based on criteria if it's legits or not. Well they strongly recommended HomeCashCourse.com. I went and have a look at it and it seemed reasonable. So I signed up for it. Downloaded a bunch of ebooks and got my web site started; which I haven't made a cent yet. But I'm really motivated to make it through this online business and this is why I am here. To learn more and protect myself.

Long story short I received a call from a guy named JP Robertson. He left me a message to call him back and that he was calling about the HomeCashCourse I bought from Mackenzi Lee. I'm actually impressed they are following through. Play tag phone for 2 days and finally one guys reached me last Saturday just before dinner. He started with this "success story" making, that he was interviewing people highly motivated to change their predicament and that only 50 would be picked etc. You've heard out it before. I'm on my guard but keep going. He then start asking me how much a make a year, what do I do for a living, if I own a home, a car and how left I have to pay on them. He also ask for 3 goals that I have and what prevented me so far to acheive them. I was getting pretty suspicious. And then he ask if I had credit cards and how much was my limit and how much was on it... By then I was getting annoyed at all those pretty personal questions, so I start googling their phone number. Which brough me a lot of bad press about Vanuity LLC and lots of scams or fishy stories. He told me that I was qualifying to be selected and that his "director" would call me within 10-15min to go through a final interview to see if I was taken or now. I hung up and look at my g/f who heard most of our conversation and ask what she thought of all that. We kept digging for more on internet and by the time the phone rang after 15min or so I've decided not to pick up the phone. They called 4 times in a row and finally left a message saying that if I wasn't serious not to bother calling back etc...

I was troubled by all that and decied to email Mackenzie Lee @ HomeCashCourse.com and ask her if it was regular practice to have sketchy people calling me about her product. She replied to me the next day and sadly I cannot access my personal email from work because I would do a cut and pace of it. But roughly what she said was that Vanuity LLC was a sister company responsible to pick up success story people and mentor them. That is you were new to this business it was the perfect program. But that she also had total faith in her products and that I could possibly succeed on my own...

So there it is. I didn't get "scam" per se but it did gave me the creeps for second. They are really good at pitching their "mentoring program". If anyone has something to say about this post, please go ahead. I am really open and eager to learn on this forum.

Until next time! Cheers!

Lucky you! I'm glad you didn't pick up the phone the second time. Those high pressure tactics drive me crazy. Did they say how much they wanted to charge you for this 'special mentoring' they were offering to this select 50 people? I bet it was an arm and a leg. That's why they wanted to know how much room you had on your credit card!

You had a close shave. I've heard from many people how they have spent thousands of dollars on these supposed mentoring programs only to end up no further ahead in the end. They pay out more than they ever make. I'm not saying that there aren't SOME legit mentoring programs, because I'm sure there are. My guess is that the high pressure ones are NOT the legit ones.

Unless you have a fortune to spend on that kind of thing - don't even bother. There are plenty of free and/or inexpensive tools and ebooks online that you can use to build up a decent web based business. They may not be overnight riches, but they will work if you follow them faithfully step by step - just like with starting an offline business.

You can certainly make money in online marketing. You just have to put in the effort to learn how and why it works and then put in the effort to make it happen.

I'm so happy for you that you escaped that little deal. I wish you much success as you proceed. If you have specific questions about various aspects of online marketing, do ask here in this forum or some of the other good forums. There are very generous people who will point you in the right direction if they can.

Blessings,
Angie

Hi Turkish, and welcome! Boy howdy, can I relate to exactly what you experienced with the "mentor" phone call. The first program I tried had to do with Ebay Auctions. The program was ok, in that the materials gave me "some" guidance, but, when I received a call, with the exact type of inquiring questions, I just would not give them answers. At the end of the call the fellow said that I seemed to have some "trust" issues with their company. I said, that yes, I did. With identity theft as big a problem as it is, I was not going to give the personal type of information they "needed". I ultimately returned the program for a refund. In fact, it is just after that, when I was doing research for how to progress, that I found Holly's site, and I know as well as I can know anything, that I have found the program I was intended to find!

I sincerely hope you can use the information and resources on this forum to assist you in making good use of the work you have already invested in.

All the best!

Thank you Pixiebelle & Happywife for your kind support.

I can say that I'm already feeling at home here even though I'm brand new to all this. I am also very happy that I've follow my gut feeling.

I am reading everything I can get my hand on about IM and different ways to build a booming empire online! I'm very excited and dedicated to make this works. Failure is not an option.

I do have to do a little bit more research as I am from Canada and most of my readings pertains to U.S. laws and regulations. Minor detail.

Alright gotta go! I'll be in touch!! You guys have a great day!!

I'm glad to hear you are feeling welcome and truly eager to learn. If you want to add to your reading, there are some great free books you can download from the link in my signature below. Help yourself!

They are actually put out by a Canadian company, Sitesell. They are the makers of SBI (SiteBuildIt) which is the program I used to learn and build my sites. SBI is an excellent program for beginners who want to build "a booming empire online."

Take a look and see what you think. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Blessings,
Angie
