So just to update everyone on the status of the adsense. After the $26 day our site continued to go up in revenue. Our highest day was over $72.00 in adsense! Then Google got a hold of me and said basically our ctr was too high and that we needed to reposition our ads. I am just greatful that they didn't shut us down. Anyway we now make around $2-$5 for every 100 hits on our site and google is happy. I am too of course.... it just would have been nice to be able to keep the other site going longer

Jenny, that is a bit disappointing really. Everyone is so happy to hear such great results like that and then for them to be brought down. Is there a specific reason why you can't have results like that? I mean $70/day is actually starting to be a nice little paycheque. Google has got the money as we all know, why can't you make money like that? It is nothing in comparison to what they bring in. I'm confused. Were the ads not meeting their Terms of Agreement? Please elaborate as I'm sure we are all wanting to know.

Cheers,
Tina

Tina, I would hazzard a guess that the ads were disguised to look like website content. It's easy to get clicks if people don't know they're clicking on ads.

How much of that $70 came from the $2.50 fee to get info about the jobs on the site?

Most reputible jobs sites charge the person POSTING the job, not the job-seeker.

And the domain was registered two weeks ago.

Something smells.

P.S. Tina - Google may have the money, but it gets it from advertisers. Click fraud costs everyone running Adwords campaigns, and that's the majority of internet marketers. Me included.

Mark no offense but please don't post on my topics if you have nothing good to say. If you know anything about adsense you would know that you have to use a differnet domain name if they shut off ads on your site. That is why it is only two weeks old.

As far as the $2.50 goes, like I say in the website... we can't just go around posting jobs all day hoping that everyone will click on enough ads to pay our salaries. It has to come from somewhere and unless we do start posting scam jobs then it will have to cost something.

The $72 all came from ads no registrations. Until Google shut it off we didn't charge a thing to view our jobs... so in essence it is because of the shut down that we had to start charging.

As far as your click fraud statement goes, its really not worth responding to... I use adwords just like everyone else so the thought of wasting anyones money does stink.

I am not trying to be rude but I am sick of people who jump to conclusions about sites just because they can't wrap their mind around the concept of someone actually creating a site that is legitimate.

Jenny,

I have an opinion based on what I see, and last time I checked it was still allowable to hold one. I also express mine when I feel the need to.

If your site is legit - then fine, I apologize. It's just that the site and you don't give off that kind of vibe. If you're smart you'll take that criticizm onboard and make adjustments.

I am just greatful that they didn't shut us down

Until Google shut it off we didn't charge a thing to view our jobs

And now you're contradicting yourself. Look, Google are smart. They don't shut people down for no reason. Usually it's for clicking their own ads or positioning them in such a way as to mislead the reader. I have dozens of Adsense sites and have never had so much as a warning.

I am sick of people who jump to conclusions about sites just because they can't wrap their mind around the concept of someone actually creating a site that is legitimate.

You actually said you had been asked by Google to reposition your ads. So my assumptions were valid and not jumped to at all.

I would still like to offer you this piece of honest advice, given with the best of intentions. Reverse your business model. Seriously. Charge the advertisers, not the jobseekers. Otherwise it's like charging people to testdrive a new car, or to look around a house they want to buy.

Good luck with your site.

You have a good point. I am sorry for jumping down your throat earlier. Had a long day with the site and I think this was the straw. You make some very good points which I will definitelly take into consideration.

I have been considering changing my site to an all free job list that others can post on. This will get rid of the time it takes to compile jobs, and thus the money it takes. Plus I will only have to spend some time each day kicking of the scams instead of looking for legit work.

Do you think this would work well?

Thanks again for your understanding.
