Blogs vs ? 2006/10/31 22:37
Holly mentions in her book that one way to start out is by writing blogs. Holly you also suggest masking your blog name by purchasing a domain name and then forwarding to the blogspot.

My question, once you get content there, can you transfer that to another server, or are you stuck with the blogspot forever? Pardon my ignorance, I'm really hungry/thirsty for information and I still have many questions. Might it just be easier to start with the "regular" website in the first place? Or is one CMS just as good as the next?

I guess I'm hung up on the daily posting bit. For some topics that is practical but for others it might not be. I guess in simple terms I am asking, should I Blog or "joomla" my website in the first place?

Something tells me the answer is: "Both" but for different topics. Any thoughts all?

Thanks,
Bellabinx

Hi,
Good questions. If possible - it is most definitely easier and better to start out having your own site (hosted separately) so you don't need the hassle of switching from: www.domain.blogspot.com to a separately hosted/purchased domain. I put that info in the ebook because a lot of people are tight in the money dept and need a free option.

The free blog option is definitely worth looking at depending on what you want to produce. If you are building a niche site and don't want to create your own products or services, blogs are a great way to go.

However, if you want to expand your own presence online then I would focus on building a site with its own domain.

Blogger, I feel, is the best free choice because it allows you to freely add AdSense and other types of revenue generators. Free Wordpress hosted blogs do not allow that.

(Quick secret hint for anyone listening - dig into Web 2.0 sites, you'll find that you can create sites without Blogs, hosting, etc. and still drive revenue. More on that later

Hi,

I have used both Blog and Websites on same topic but in different manner.

Let me try to answer it with example:

Let us take an example of MLM concept (I know you all hate it but I love it ).

On my website I will tell people good features of my program and cost of products, benefits and all that stuff you put in a sales letter.

But then people have immediate question
"I am poor in telling people(nearby) to join my program and I have small group of friends, who hate MLM "

This is where I use blogs to tell them:
"the growth of MLM is not when you ask people(nearby) to join, it is due to the fact that how well you made a website and also optimization done by you. So that more traffic comes to you.

Remember in this world many people wants to join MLM because they have big circles to grow chain. Point is how to get them under you!."

So website attracts the customer and Blogs acts as filler and helps me to calm people down. Simple isn't it.

Nikhil,
So are you profiting from doing this? I noticed that your blogs were not optimized at all. Is your site? What works best for you?

Holly,

I replied you on that in a mail, short story about me, I hope you may have read that, OK as far as blogs are concerned, I am new to them but I will always give content more preference over others as I said, Blog and websites are for different purpose

Nikhil Khullar

But can I take a heading of your forum as example.
Here 'work from home' is the keyword, people search it a lot now you added honest, success to it and this is where SEO starts, am I wrong, this is what I want people to do open eyes and look around , read your e-books and see how you implement them!.

BTW: I wrote a post to Sean, which I am not able to find ,
it was honest answer. You have said correctly that
being pessimist will not help, I want to add one should be careful and use his brain and Instincts over the rest.
