My Site was stopped through AdWords 2007/02/09 23:28
Okay, I am really confused. I currently have a site up and running www.officialmakemoneyworkfromhome.com and placed a google AdWords campaign on it but today I went in to check my account and had a big red block that said I didn't follow the guidelines. It said that I had people click on something on my site and redirect to another site in order to purchase the ebook. Of Course, that's my affiliate hop link from Holly Mans book, why can I not do that?? I am so confused. I now had to enter my affiliate link into the AdWords campaign so It doesn't even direct anyone to my site it goes directly to Holly's site. Someone please help!!

Not sure why your site would have been blocked.

Google's Adwords guidelines on affiliates have changed recently, but the fact that you have your own domain name should move you out of problems of getting your ad to display. Google wants people to have their own site, not just an affiliate link.

You are, however using the exact, word for word, headline that Holly has on her honest riches site. I would change that if I were you.

Maybe your claim to be "official" could be the problem.

You could also be using keywords in your ads that are not relevant to, or do not feature on your site. Try altering your keywords, only use ones that feature on your web page.

I'm not sure either but why would the 'official' make a difference it's just part of the domain name?? Is there a way to contact google through email and get a response as to why this is happening??

Hi Efancy,

I can see your problem. Since your redirecting to holly website with just your affiliate link, your ad is definitely going to get disapproved as redirecting is against Googles TOS. My advice is to either do a cloaked redirect or just make a landing page.

Sincerely,

Hernard Garcia

I don't think Hernard Garcia is correct about your situation. Your site lists several other products making it a standalone site. However, I can't see your actual ad that is prompting this response. If your google ad's Display URL is different from your landing page, then they'll see that the site you are advertising is one click away from where the potential customer is landing.

If your ad displays the website as www.honestriches.com instead of http://www.officialmakemoneyworkfromhome.com (which may be too long for their ads) then you are misleading the customer. They are traveling to your site instead of the honest riches site.

Again, this is assuming what I've stated above. Does this appear to be the case?

Y'know, this is probably an old post, but I'm just going to take a crack at this.

The Adwords TOS on Redirecting doesn't have anything to do with an affiliate link in your page that someone can actually click on. What they mean by redirecting, is using html code that actually forwards the clicker on to another site, in other words, the clicker never actually even lands on your page because he is instantly thrown to another site by a "redirect" code in the <head> of the html code.

Secondly, the URL you advertise must be EXACTLY the same as the one they are being sent to.

I'm not exactly sure what their problem is, but I have appealed my cases before and been told that my ads were innappropriatly frozen. What seems to be the case is that half the people google employs have no clue what the "Correct" interpretation of the policies they are supposed to be enforcing. It has been my experience to watch these people simply cut and paste the policy and when I ask them to explain or to please give me an example of what the policy means, they actually can't - instead, they copy and paste the policy again and just repeat. This is the answer.

On appeals you will win about 30-40% of them. Ask them to explain to you exactly what the problem with your page is and ask them how you can correct it. ALWAYS save the logs and review them, when you can catch them "fibbing" turn them in. I have done this several times with success.

Good Luck
Tony
