AdSense on Free WordPress - Possible? 2007/02/20 21:38
I'm getting a little confused, so maybe somebody can help set me straight...

I've been trying to figure out how to install plugins that would enable insertion of Google AdSense ads on a free WordPress blog. Is this even possible if you don't use the self-hosted form of WordPress? I downloaded the one called adsense-deluxe, but I can't figure out how to install it.

I've read that WordPress doesn't allow affiliate advertising links, or offer any "built-in" way to use AdSense ads. Is this to say that they don't even allow AdSense at all on their free blogs?

I'd like to know before I waste any more time on this so I can just concentrate more on Blogger if that's the case.

Thanks in advance!

Free Wordpress Blogs that are hosted at wordpress Do Not allow any adsense ads on them.

The only Wordpress Blog that you can put adsense on is one that you pay for hosting and install the wordpress program on.

Well, that was an easy one afterall, huh?
I guess I'll have to stick with Blogger, then, for my experimental AdSense blogs from here on.
Thanks for the quick reply Charles!

I guess I could have answered my own question if I had simply looked closer right on WordPress itself first.

So just to save some time and effort for anyone else that might still be wondering, here's where WordPress makes no bones about it - there are no ads permitted on it:

http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/

So it's basically useless for what I wanted to use it for. I don't even know why so many people even mention it in the same breath as affiliate marketing and AdSense publishing. For beginners who want to take advantage of free blogging to promote things with, forget about WordPress! (Now I finally get it after wasting the last few weeks tinkering with it.) Oh well.

Heading back to Blogger...

How about this style vs blogger? I thought Holly said wordpress is better in the end to use and you can place ads on it? How much is it to get it hosted?
