If you want to increase both your CTR and also your
return on investment, start using negative keywords.

An obvious negative keyword to use in almost all cases is "free", and the reason you would use it in your campaigns is to avoid getting a bunch of unwanted clicks from people looking for free information...unless, of course, you want to give away something for free or something along those lines.

To add negative keywords, just add the minus (-) symbol before your keyword, so to use free as a negative keyword, simply list it like this "-free". You can also add negative keywords by adjusting your campaign settings.

Another reason to use negative keywords is because they can actually increase your ctr, which will in turn have an impact on your quality score, which can lower your cost per click.

For example, suppose you have a website about tatooing. A less obvious negative keyword is "removal"...you would add this negative keyword to your campaign because it will actually increase your ctr because your ad won't show for those seeking tatoo removal.
