Lousy wordtracker results - what am I doing wrong? 2007/05/08 10:32
Hi all,

I've just spent a few hours playing around with Wordtracker trying to find keywords for a project... After hundreds of keywords, even the highest ones have KEI of 0.000000000001. Only ONE with KEI of 14, and it was so obscure that I didn't even know it was a term, and didn't have anything to do with my subject matter.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong, but what?

Any ideas

Markus

Are you using keyword researcher or keyword universe. They're slightly different. Also make sure you start with your top tier (or broadest term) then work the list. Again don't pay too much attention to the KEI. While it can be helpful, count and competition are more important.

Sometimes you'll get 1000+ KEI for a 2 count search and 0 competition. Stick to what Holly says in her ebook as far as guidelines.

Hi!
Do not worry about KEI at all! I wish whoever invented the term "KEI" didn't because it really throws people off. It's not as important as people might think - what is impt is then number of searches and amount of competing sites. If you have any numbers to share...maybe we can help ...

I once tried to use a Wordtracker off my laptopper while running my Weedwhacker all around my wooden shacker. In the end, I got SDPD cited for running a Weedtracker, instead of the proper, approved Wordwhacker for which I was duely zoned .....$1000 nasty fine in California's lala land.

Hey now... we are fiscally broke here...citations for durn every little thing! Morale...watch what you whack and what words you try to track, ok guys and gimlettes!!! Eowawa

I'm not quite sure which tool is best to use for initial niche keyword research: Researcher, Universe or Full Search. The best tool, I thought, was the one you got access to with the free trial, but that's nowhere to be found.
