Help with shopping cart and Paypal ideas 2007/08/14 23:19
Need some helpful advice on setting up Paypal on my ecom site.
I understand that I can set paypal up for free, but notice that for the price of what we will offer, it looks like we will have to pay $10 - $13 per item sold for using the service. Whao has experience with paypal to let us know the least costly way of dealing with them and are there other costs that we will encure along the way?

We're looking to have 3 add to cart buttons and a check out page.

One last thing on this post.....We are working with a 5 page template and having most pages full currently, how does the paypal process add to our current pages? Meaning, we ad the add to shopping cart buttons, and a person uses one, does paypal then have another page that's part of their program to check out from or does it use one of our existing pages? I hope this isn't a dumb question.

I guess the real question is how do we add a method of receiving payment for the least amount of expence on our part and make it a pleasurable and functional experience for the purchaser?

Carl

I would have thought that someone would have replied to this post too. Am I missing something here? Are my questions stupid and unworthy of answers? I would think that questions are good, so that us unknowing folk can learn from the more experienced.

Advice on my comments OR advice about what to ask or not to ask would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone, anyone......somebody

Hi and welcome to the forum! Sorry for the late reply - I haven't been on here too much the past week. I've been pretty busy. But, I believe I can answer your questions for you. About payment processors - in my experience - the cheapest one (the one that charges the least amount of fees for services, etc.) has been paypal. Some people do not like it and others love it. Personally, I recommend using it over clickbank because clickbank's fees are so much higher. About creating a payment button or shopping cart. You can do all of that when you login to your paypal account. The instructions to do so are here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_pdn_cart_techview_outside and it is free to do that. You basically will get some code and need to enter it into your site -and that pay button will appear wherever you put the code. If you have a special download page to redirect the customer too - then make sure when you create your payment buttons or cart that you specify that. I believe you can click on a link that says MORE OPTIONS or something similar when you are making the button - then you can put a redirect download page. So after paying, the customer can be redirected to download or to a page with a thank you note and instructions. Hope that helps!
