Hi Akiko,

I'm pretty sure to get the free website you have to pay for the year in advance hosting. It's a good deal if you know what you are doing and how to build a good website that is built according to all the right site building principles. If you don't do it right, you are just going to end up with a site that is sitting out there in cyber space that no one is visiting.

I had no idea how to 'do it right' when I first started, so that kind of a deal wasn't going to do me any real good. I ended up finding SiteBuildIt (SBI) which is a complete website building system. It takes you through the whole process step by step with all the tools, training, hosting, etc. so that you are sure to build a site that ranks well and gets lots of free visitors from the search engines.

It costs more, though. SBI is $299 per year. It includes just about everything, but it has to be paid in advance, too. It's well worth it if you are serious about building a web business though. I actually have three SBI sites now because I discovered it was more than worth the investment.

They are running a special at the moment. If you purchase one SBI package for $299 you get a second one for $100. The first one is activated immediately, and the second one can be left for up to 9 months before you have to activate it and start the 'clock' running.

I bought my second and third site during this same special last year. It's going to keep me busy for a while now, juggling three sites!

Anyway, I just thought I'd let you know about that option. I know there are plenty of people like me who find the whole website building process like learning a foreign language. I couldn't have done any good even if someone had given me a free site and free hosting. Knowing what to do and how to do it is vital. That's the beauty of SBI.

Hope that helps a little.

Blessings,
Angie

Hi Kathy and Angie,
Thank you so much for your valuable information. It helps so much to get quick feedback on questions I have. I love this forum and this new project of mine is very exciting. Don't get me wrong, it's quite overwhelming and confusing at times but I just allow myself to take baby steps and I'm in for the long haul.
It sounds like both of you are giving me the same advise. I guess taking the time to learn all about website design and development by doing it myself is going to pay off in the long run (although I would love to have someone do all the hard work for me).

Kathy, I looked at your websites and was very impressed with your pipeline site. Then I looked at your Mamma's Southern Cooking and Best Places to Retire sites and was really impressed!!!! There is a definite difference. Is that because of SBI (and of course your skills)? Or is it because of your learning curve? The newer ones are better because you've been doing it longer now?

Angie, I looked at your three websites as well. Beautifully done!! I hope mine will be that good!!!! Do you have to pay $299/year for all three of your sites (meaning $900/year)?

Thanks so so sososoososos much!!!! You both were a tremendous help!!!! Now I'm going to go back and check out the Southern Cooking Recipes and Chocolate Candy sites (yummy, yummy)!!

haha, hmmm, something tells me your excited Akiko. Great to see! Yes, you are in good hands following Kathy and Angie's advice. They have been at it a while now.

I think were getting to be old timers around here actually....oh..oh..did I say that? I can't be that old yet!

Personally, I love Wordpress, which comes with Holly's site set up, but, it's not for everybody. It really comes down to personal preference, I guess.

Either way you look at it...get working on that first site!

Cheers
Davin

Hi Akkiko,

I owe a lot to SBI! It's taken a whole lot of frustration out of building a website. It saved me a whole lot of time and time definately is money. If you like the technical aspect of it then Wordpress might be for you it's just not for me. I enjoy the creative aspect of it all which makes SBI! the perfect fit for me.

Yes, you do have to pay $299 per year, per site but mine have already paid for themselves and then some!

Whichever way you go I wish you the best.

And Davin...old timers?!?!...I resemble that remark!
