Keyword research 2007/08/23 22:18
What is the best tool to see the keyword history. Daily and total searches I keep reading on the forum but nothing is saying it will show the daily searches. Do I use wordtracker and buy a week or 30 day. They do not have a daily one use any longer. Is there a better site now that shows daily searches? I would rather not pay but I think i am wasting a huge amount of time trying to find a way to research. THANK YOU

You can use the Wordtracker or the Overture tool to find the best keywords. Once you have a couple of keywords and you want to look deeper into these then you can use the Google Trends tool or the Google Adwords Bidder Tool.

No, Google Trends shows you the search performance of a keyword over several months or years.

The Google Adwords Bidding Tool let's you identify profitable keywords for using google adsense or similar pay per click ads on your website.

Overture shows you the monthly searches, but I think they are always a month behind.

Wordtracker, I am not sure but I think they show you daily searches and a 24 hour prediction.

I am always looking at the KEI of the keywords. This number tells you which keywords have the best rate of monthly searches to competing websites.

KEI is not all, for example the keyword "google" has a pretty high KEI because there are so many people searching for it. Even though the KEI is high, you would never make it to the first page for "google".

If you are just starting out, then you want to see fast results and you will only see those with keywords that have a very low competition. Once you have made it to page 1 for a keyword with low competition, then you can target the next bigger ones.

Start with keywords that have less than 100.000 results in google (when searching without quotes), then you can see results in a couple of weeks. Bigger keywords take longer because you have to build lots of reciprocial links (offpage optimization).

A low competition is much more important than a lot of monthly searches. Why? Because you can literally use as many keywords as you want and 100 page 1 positions in google each with only 500 monthly searches will add up. Getting a page 1 position for highly searched keywords is a lot harder.
