I need to clarify something from usitorlosit's post. I can't say about anything about the tax laws where he lives, since he doesn't seem to be from the US. HOWEVER, for people in the US, Google Adsense earnings are taxable as ordinary income. Google will not send a check to someone in the US until you give them your SSN or Tax ID number. This is specifically so the income can be reported to the IRS.

I just don't want any of our US members getting in legal trouble.

You are quit right, I am not in USA but I think that this forum is not about taxation. If we were that concerned about paying taxes on our income then we would not bother to start a business but we do.

I worked as an Accountant for over 30 years and in Canada you can charge off home office costs, telephone, travel, auto and other costs associated with businesses created to generate income.

If you earn $10k US in gross income you will not be paying taxes on $10k but on net income after allowance expenses and you could even show losses during the first several years and get tax refunds.. in Canada anyways.

We are here to learn from others and to make money.

If someone could show me how to get rich I will gladly pay whatever taxes are payable based on my residency.
