How much money per click? 2007/09/13 04:46
Hey guys. Ok so I am definitely new to making money online. I'm trying to take everything in right now from Holly's book and make a plan. I was just wondering would it be possible to make money by building a website and only using adsense as your income. I was also wondering how much money is normally made per click? Thanks.

Hi cooper90, welcome here!
It's possible to make plenty from AdSense clicks alone, but it's the old "all of your eggs in one basket" situation if that's all you've got to earn from. It can be done, but it's probably better to mix in other things like affiliate links and products of your own that you can sell that are all related to the same subject. There are, however, plenty of sites out there that don't really sell anything of their own, so are obviously profiting from their ads alone. Lots of sites are absolutely free to use, but there are always plenty of ads to be seen on every page you click on. craigslist.com for instance is nothing but free classified type ads, etc. But it helps to be one of the top 10 or so most visited websites I'm sure, like in their case!

As far as what you get paid per click...it can really be all over the place, depending on what type of ads will be displayed on your site, and the popularity of what they sell at any given time. Google charges AdWords advertisers $50 to even $100 per click for some of the most sought after keywords, and just a few cents for others...so the ideal thing would be to target those more expensive keywords. You can get an idea of which words will pay more by checking Google's own website that lists the estimated costs:

https://adwords.google.com/select/TrafficEstimatorSandbox

The more expensive they are, the more you stand to get paid when you receive your AdSense clicks for the same ads.

I should practice what I'm preaching I guess...the last click I just received earned me 9 cents! LOL It can be a little frustrating sometimes, but it's against the rules to ASK your readers to click on the ads - but I feel like doing that sometimes!

Hope this helps, and good luck as you get started and try to decide on what to promote!

Hmm, I wouldn't go for adsense ads.

First of all like John said, you only make a couple of cents per click with most keywords and those keywords that pay out well are very hard to bring traffic to because you compete with so many other webmasters.

If somebody clicks on your ads, that means this person is interested in what is advertised there, so you could as well make this sale for your affiliate products rather than sending this visitor to a different site where he makes a purchase.

Finally you never know for how long you are going to have your adsense account, mine got closed without me doing anything wrong and google stole all my commissions. That wasn't the worst, I had to update all my websites and place different ads there, which took me hours.

You should rather sell clickbank or commission junction affiliate products, you will earn a lot more on the long run. Combine this with a newsletter on your site to build up trust with your visitors and you will even make more sales.

Be aware that the old static html websites will only earn you pennies, maybe you make it to $10 or $20 a month with such a website but more is almost impossible. That's why those adsense marketers have hundreds of those niche websites.

You should build a dynamic Web 2.0 website with a forum and other interactive features, that will result in more visitors and more income. If you build something unique, that can not be found anywhere else, then you will have a winner website and you won't need to advertise it at all, it will spread like a virus through mouth to mouth propaganda.

For me personally, I concentrate now on creating membershp websites and on building my opt-in email lists. My niche websites, like the cat website were never a real success, although I worked a lot on these. But they still make me a couple of bucks each month without me doing anything, so I guess I would be a rich man if I had 300 of these

Don't get discouraged though...I'm still confident that real money can be made with AdSense if it's done the right way. Holly doesn't really focus on AdSense much in her ebook, but before you write the idea off there's another ebook you should check out if you haven't seen it yet.

It's called "The Plan", and you can find it at a great website that gives lots of free information: http://www.seo2020.com

The Plan is totally free to download, although they also have an expanded edition called "The Master Plan" that costs extra, but this one is complete in itself. In it they tell you what to do step by step to build a huge AdSense income. I haven't actually tried it entirely yet myself, but I do "plan" to! And I'd be curious if any other readers here have followed it, and if so, how it worked out for them.

Thanks guys. I know it is going to be hard to make money with just adsense and that I should try to incorporate affiliate marketing into it also. Thanks alot John for the recommendation to the plan. I have already downloaded and read it. I think right now though that I am just going to keep doing research and try to figure out what would be the best thing for me to do to make money online. I am in no hurry and I'd rather do it right later than wrong now and end up getting nothing out of it.

hello, I finally got a click or 2 on one of my sites that paid above the 70 cent mark per click. take all the info you get from the replies and boil it down to a combo of both adsense and affiliate products. that is what it seems. I am just starting out too with this type of marketing, just added a free 40 page site for folks to read. nothing to join or anything. just free articles to learn from. it is here...

I just received all of my new books to teach me what I need to know. from joel comm adsense book to html to cpanel to..you get it. I am diving in and reading all I can. good luck
