Thread: Make Your Suggestions for March's Competition

We have already decided that, based on the suggestions we have already received from you, to centre the March Competition or writing an article.

What we are looking for now is your input is how it should be structured.

For example:

• How many words should be the minimum?
• What subject(s) should be covered?
• Should they include a Bio Box with a link?
• What should we do with the best articles?
• etc.?

As Paul and Kevin have been very busy preparing for the EMMC Launch as Kevin is away this week we have not yet had a chance to pester them for prizes for the competition but be assured Bill and I will be nagging them till they give us the prize list.

My rationale is that there will be people who can create a great article but may not have a genuine website (at present) to link back to.

Alternatively, why not fix a subject/title, range of length (4-500 words, say) so that it's a completely level playing field? For example, the article might have to be about an aspect of Internet Marketing e.g. where to get help, and the link could be back to this forum. The test of how good the article is could be to submit all the entries to an article publisher and see which one brings back the most new members.

Unfortunately there are black hat methods available where you can write a bland nothing out of the box article and gets thousands on views on even EZA so I'm a little skeptical about paying out on who gets the most members.

Another question is how are you going to track it all? Someone will need a nifty little program or be pulling their hair out with stats.

Maybe I'll bribe Paul and get my article sent to his 120K list?

Seriously the idea is a good one in that it will teach people to write good article especially if it its a requirement that the article gets published. Easiest way might be to upload our own article script and publish them there.

Then people could vote by clicking through to the article site at voting time - need to be able to reset all articles views to zero just before voting.

To give this a practical twist, I'd suggest that the first aim of the competition could be to write an article that gets accepted by EZine Articles.

It's correct that number of views, etc, can be easily manipulated, so that would not be a good basis for determining the winner.

So maybe forum members can vote on the published articles to decide on the winner(s).

And I'll offer a copy of my "Website Owners Guide" to every entrant who gets one or more articles accepted by EZine articles.

What about the competition being based around having the most hits?

we could all write an article of between 300 - 500 words long, the subject can be the Elite Money Making Club again and we can submit it to a directory and whichever article gets the most hits on it after 2 weeks get posted on this forum and we have a poll to see which one is the best????

We can keep tabs on the articles by pasting the article link to one of our very capable admins and the 3 with the most hits gets polled on here

Having no minimum length for an article would not be practical as if the article is too short no article directory will publish it.

When I placed my vote in the poll it would only let me pick one option ie the length of article I could not vote for the bio boxes at the same time as the dot jumped out of the first selection

this could be a pointer to either correct it or at least improve upon it.

I was thinking along the lines that the organisers could use a collection of the comments within the articles to use as unsolicited testimonials (here is what are members have said about us sort of thing). In this way not only will we be getting article writing experience but the organisers will be getting useful data to promote the site and their work too. So every one's a winner.

When I set up the poll I only included the vote for yes and no for the biobox. I then updated it to include a vote on the length for an article, but couldn't change the option to allow voting on multiple options.
