If you have a domain name for your website I hope you registered it privately or your personal information could be at risk for spam or worse identity theft.
By law your information has to be made public when you register a domain name unless it is registered privately. If you got any questions on how to get out of the public view for your personal protection post or send me a pm.

I disagree. Private domain registration has its uses, but for a legitimate business it can make YOU look like the scammer. If you don't like spam, set up a gmail address for your domains and empty the junk every now and then. if you are worried about identity theft, get a PO Box and use that for your company address.
The difference will be that the person with private registration will look like someone who has something to hide (e.g most scammers use private reg as they don't want to be 'found'). It's much better to have a legitimate business address, even if it is a PO Box.

That will work to Gary Smith I started this thread to let people be aware of the situation, not to hide something. When I got my first domain I wasn't aware that your information was made public. Opps newbie mistake. Being private doesn't always mean you are trying to hide something you just got private people in the world. A PO Box costs about $20.00 or so a month and Private Registration costs $7.95 a year. I just did the math. You don't need to receive paper checks with your PO Box. A lot of commission checks are done with Paypal or another online merchant, but people market different and like to wait on checks to cash. I am sure there are people with domains right now that don't even know about this situation and want to act. If it was me I would want to know if I had no idea about the situation?
