Only Paul can answer that fully ,so I'll be presumptuous and say:
Since these are all sub domains of "college.edu.pe " ,once the traffic starts to build ,Paul will build the remainder of his main site and use 3-way linking also ,to his SEO company.

Well, the obvious benefit is the increased activity on this forum, which has pretty well exploded since the subdomain offer was started.

Does anyone have links back to their .college.edu.pe subdomain yet?

Of those subdomains that members of the forum have posted details of in this or another thread not one seems to have any backlinks yet. For some the subdomain has been allocated but is not yet in use, some are works in progress, and some now have content.

When you've been around this forum long enough you will realize that Paul and I often don't get any benefit at all. For instance I have handed out and shipped $28,000 of prizes from our January competition and I can tell you with shipping and my time for handling....that is probably $33k and I get no benefit what so ever. I do however, get the pleasure of seeing people, take action they have never taken before, really learn and assimilate and make progress and for me that is terrific.

Paul is just the same, our investment in both time and money within this community building it up, has been and continues to massive...

So the answer is no benefit. We do of course generate an income from any paid for elements of the forum, which until the launch of EMMC have been totally zero and our Academy, develops products and services which it sells and makes a very significant income from and it really is from the Academy's reserves and income that we can put so much back into our forum.

I've had a chat with Paul this morning re the questions raised rather than us both contributing, I'll leave the response to Paul, as he is without doubt a world class SEO specialist with a large company dedicated to organic and PPC SEO for paying clients.

Bill, has summarized the power and strategic use of the .edu - it helps you generate the One Way links we are always talking about and which I have commented on in detail within several threads.

Paul is kinda busy at the moment getting ready for the launch of the EMMC.

Once the EMMC is launched could you give Paul a couple of days to catch up with the college.edu.pe subdomains, before you PM him again.

Now, what flat database blog to use? Hrmmm... I could use Flatpress, but I will search and see if there are others ;-)

Imo, we need to work a bit on the PR of those sites to look them more appealing to webmasters, so, how is the PR on this sites flows? what ways of promotion are "good practices" for .edu sites? I am sure I have mentioned this before but YES obviously it does help if the sub domain as got PR however I have had great success with offering PR0's. You can easily pick up a cheap PR6 link in somewhere like: Links For Sale - Buy & Sell Your Links

Then this will get you PR3 at the next update.

Matt Cutts had stated a few times that .edu links do not have special weight on google's eyes, might be true, might not, you can find that on his personal blog. What he claims is that .edu sites usually have high and old PR and that helps to be considered as a trusted site, but a PR0 new .edu subsubdomain does not fall into that category. You are not ranking your .edu site so it does not matter what anyone thinks

And this reminds me something that I saw very curious. While I was checking my competence links one day (adult related business, more exactly, escorts business), I found one "cloacked" link to my competence from an ONG organisation PR3 website, so I decided to take a look to that website, this is what I saw:

1) Poor On-Page optimization.
2) Poor content, only one page, few images without alts with campaign logos, contact form, and a few more things, no keywords selection, but looked nice

3) 6 outgoing links, 5 to another ONGs, 1 to my competence adult related site cloacked below an imagen on a corner with no anchor text neither alt tag.
4) Less than 20 incoming links, bad anchor text, not very High PR sites.

And that was a PR3! The only answer I could find was, somehow, Google's Social Corporate Responsability is artificially boosting certain type of web's PR. And imo that's what happens with .edu sites, they have different ranking maths so they get high PR quicker than regular sites, that's my view, and that's why I ask about how PR is going to flow through the whole domain.

At the same time, we are going to share the IP for all those subdomains. If some of us are falling into bad practise, and google start to watch that certain .edu subdomains from the same IP are doing that, we are probably all of us gonna be watched with different eyes from Google's perspective. Are we going to have any kind of supervision on what everybody is doing with the .edu.pe? Yes BIG brother is always watching

Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate your offer, if I'm asking you this questions is only because I would like to know those answers rather than not being grateful with you Paul, thanks for the effort ;)

Yes, free. Yes, easy. Just download... edit the proper config files (if that)... upload via FTP.

Most flat file systems are straight forward and easy to install. The kicker will come to how user friendly the backend is (admin section).

Some flat files you have to manage everything from the hard code in the files... and some they have a visual config backend to manage the site.

Not sure about Flatpress... I assume it is user friendly, but I have not used it yet.
