Get Your FREE .edu Domain & Website from Paul Today!!! Hi all, .edu sites are classed as "Authority" websites in the eyes of the search engines. These domains cannot be bought from any registrar and are only issued to Colleges, Universities or Education Establishments. So why would I need a .edu site? If you know your basic SEO (Search Engine Optimization) stuff you will know that the main ranking factor bar none is backlinks (Link Building). The Google algorithm (Rule Book) as changed loads in recent years and it now gives more ranking juice to links that come from related websites. I have seen some sites rankings jump onto the first pages of the SERP's (Search Engine Result Pages) with only a handful of these quality related links where as I have seen some people spend countless hours getting thousands of free directory and article links and move nowhere! Take this site for example and Kevin will back me up here: Kevin was doing his own link building before he met me and getting nowhere. Now type in www.google.co.uk the keyword phrase: home business You will see his site on the first page for this MASSIVE traffic keyword!!! How did I do that? By getting his site quality related links... It only took a handful of these links ![]() So how do you spot a "Quality related Link"? Ok here is the key. Imagine if you could get a link from a website in your industry that ALREADY ranks on the first page of Google for the keywords that you are trying to target or similar keywords within your industry. Do you think that kind of link would help your rankings? Oh my god you have no idea how much these kind of links will see your rankings jump up those results pages!!! Here is an example of exactly what I am talking about: Now type in www.google.com the keyword phrase: make money online You will find the following site at number 1 position at the time of writing this: http://moneymakerinfo.blogspot.com/ Now look down the right hand side under "Blogroll" and find the link text "Home Business"... Which site is that linking to? Now can you see why www.cambridgebusinessacademy.com/ as suddenly jumped onto the first page of Google for the keyword phrase: home business ![]() But why would a number 1 ranking site want to link back to your site that is nowhere in the search engines? Because I offered the webmaster a link on my .edu site in exchange for a link on his site ![]() Conclusion If you have your own .edu site and approach people for a link exchange they will snap your hand off because .edu sites are seen throughout the whole internet world as "Gold Dust" when it comes to getting a link from them back to your site! Now can you see why a .edu site is so special ![]() I want mine NOW Paul how do I get it??? All you need to do in order to get your .edu domain with FTP details is to have made a minimum of 20 posts within this forum. That's It !!! Once you have a minimum of 20 posts simply send me a PM and I will have your domain with FTP details ready to go the same day (During office hours). You will also need to choose a name for your new site and let me know in the PM. What you need to know before PM'ing me: You will be getting a domain name and hosting for the domain name. This means that you will recieve a domain name and FTP (File Transfer Protacol) details via PM. From here you will need to know how to upload a site (your own webfiles) to the hosting account using the FTP details. The sites will not come with MYSQL. If you have any questions at all please DO NOT PM me. Please leave a post in this thread then others can learn. Regards
Paul UPDATE: 19th January 2010 *You MUST ONLY upload informational content to your new domain. This will only benefit YOU when contacting link exchange partners. *Making your new site look like a normal College or University site works GREAT. (If you want to know what a normal .edu site looks like just Google this: .edu) *All advertising or the selling of anything is strictly forbidden. *MYSQL does NOT come with this domain. *Email addresses DO NOT come with this domain (For the best results set up a free Gmail email address like this: name.edu.pe@gmail.com (It will be FREE :0).

Paul is absolutely right. Before we teamed up as partners and bought and took on this forum, I was doing well, but only with article marketing and some PPC. But when I started teaching as a guest speaker at some work shops last year, I met Paul, found out about his Organic SEO prowess, we partnered up and the CBA just took off. We now have 5 very high valued keywords which are racing towards the top of Google page 1 in both Google.co.uk and I have no doubt it won't be many more months before we are dominating Google.com.
The same applies to my blog, which many of your know I post to daily, we have 4 very high value keywords a couple are already on Page 1, the other two not far behind and again our target its to be in the top 5 for each on Page 1 within the next couple of months. Paul and SEO are like sugar and spice..... Kevin

Paul,
First, thanks for this offer. Second, can this site be on any topic and still be relevant to a .edu extension? Yes you give me the name and I will creat it for you and it will be perfectly on topic. If the name is taken I will let you know. |

Hi Ellanis,
It says why in the first sentence of Paul's post. ".edu sites are classed as "Authority" websites in the eyes of the search engines. These domains cannot be bought from any registrar and are only issued to Colleges, Universities or Education Establishments." Richie

The domain name edu is a sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) in the Domain Name System of the Internet. It's name is derived from education, indicating its intended use as a name space for educational institutions, primarily those in the United States.[1] Although not officially mandated for much of the domain's existence, in practice it has been used primarily for U.S.-based four-year universities. Starting in 2001, it was officially restricted to accredited postsecondary institutions and organizations that are accredited by nationally recognized accrediting agencies. and Starting on October 29, 2001, only post-secondary institutions and organizations that are accredited by an agency on the U.S. Department of Education's list of nationally recognized accrediting agencies are eligible to apply for a edu domain.[3] Most such agencies accredit only US institutions, so very few non-US institutions qualify, and edu remains almost exclusively a top-level domain of the United States. Sounds good to me! Regards Mark |

I do not disagree that links are important, but have you done any actually testing to confirm that Google gives more weight to a .edu versus a .com
I have read lots of opinions on this issue but never seem to find any actually testing to back it up. Either way I appreciate the offer!. Yes I have done lots of testing with these links but don't get confused here, you will not be linking back to your own sites from these. You will simply be using them as "Link Bait" in order to get the top ranking sites in your niche linking to you :0).

Paul, this sounds very interesting. And I'll certainly be taking you up on your offer. But first, a couple of questions about domain name selection:
1) Do you recommend a niche-specific name? or can we go for an industry-wide search term? e.g., Most of the products I can generate, as a legitimate authority, will relate to Real Estate. Thus using the (very broad) term "RealEstate" in an .edu domain name suggests itself. Yes you can pick whatever you like and at this time of writing realestate is available :0) 2) Are there marketing/sales limitations (or "conventions") - real or implied - in working under an .edu domain? Or should we use this primarily as a lead-generation vehicle? Nope as long as you don't abuse the domain then it is fine. I will be sending you the TOS via the PM. But to make thing clear and easy use it as "link Bait" for the top ranking sites. Offer them a link on your .edu site in return for one on their site and you will AMAZED at the reaction you get :0) Phil |

Interesting! I happen to work at an .edu, but I'm pretty sure there are rules about making money off of my personal website. Haven't looked into it or updated my website in years, though I was on it just the other day. I wonder if it might be possible to use an extra .edu link to help things along too?
Thanks! dbk What is the .edu you work at? Can you PM me the details as I might be able to help you along :0)

Paul, I've been wondering for awhile now, exactly how to use .edu links and have never seen it discussed (other than the fact that they carry a lot of weight with Google). I now have access to one, and at this point I have nothing on the page.
Do the same Google rules apply as far as having plenty of relevant content on the page? For example, an article (or several articles) with a couple of anchor links to our site. (I am assuming that we can't just have a list of links to our sites on there and nothing else). Use your .edu as "link Bait". Contact the top ranking sites in your niche and offer them a link on your .edu in return for a link on there site. I get around 70% reply success when I use this method, they all want a link from a .edu. In the new EMMC I will be showing you the email templates that I send etc Can we have content with links totally unrelated to other content on the page? In other words, use the .edu site for a number of different niches? Or is it basically 1 .edu site=1 niche only? If you want 3 .edu sites then you need 60 posts and so on :0) What do we need to do (if anything) to get Google to find our .edu site? Again don't worry about that use them as "link Bait" What is your suggestion for getting the most out of our .edu site? "link bait" Love your strategy of swapping links on your .edu site for links from a top ranked site on Google! And thanks for the generous offer to forum members!! You answered your own question, love it :0) Tom |
