Work for what? As a means to drive traffic to your site, sales, leads? It can work for all of them. I'm starting to see more and more videos combined with sales letters as nobody these days likes to read ;)

Absolutely does. My Academy is almost exclusively built on video coaching.

But learn the craft well, take your time, and make sure that your other strategies such as onsite, offsite SEO are also tuned up and running smooth.

You can see examples of all my video blogs here. But note the content and words on the pages as well. Very important to maintain good SERPS.

My Free Video Blogs

Remember Search Engine Spiders don't see your flash video, so a site which is totally flash will hit you hard in terms of search engine rankings.

I personally think video's most definitely work...I mean, I will more times than any other, sit and watch a video on a sales page than read it if given the option.

Don't get me wrong...I will also read a full sales page if it is catching enough, but if there's that good old video built in, then brilliant.

I think in general people are more apt to watch a video than read, especially when it come to product advertisement. So much more can be said with expressions.

I would also think video adds that personal touch. I've learned (finally) the importance of someone seeing a face also. It adds to the trust factor. I believe would be the right phrase. Audio does good...but actually seeing the person talking to you would add a comfort mind setting. More like a one on one meeting.
Just my 2 cents...tho BH would probably say I don't belong in a video...heh

Personally, I'm ok with short videos but not long ones though I prefer tutorial videos more than anything else where one can actually see the steps taken to do such and such.

Just been watching some of Kevins videos and they are great. Excellent presenter and I'm trying to place the accent... Manchester? Yorkshire? - now I'm in trouble!

Videos do work for bringing in live customers and occasionally we see a backlink if the video site makes urls in the description live. Yorkshire, Bradford but living in Cambridge for the last 14 years....just goes to show you can take the main out of Yorkshire, but not Yorkshire out of the man

Video definitely works both as a selling medium and a way to bring traffic. The traffic potential from Youtube and the other big video hosting sites is huge, and it's so easy to make videos nowadays with so many tools. I have a few programs that will turn articles into videos quite easily for instance and it's also easy to outsource these.

Just think about your search results, you'll always get some videos in the results and there's rarely as high competition for these placements as in the standard serps.

Dotslash, you are bang on with free mass upload tools such as TubeMogul and the paid for TrafficGeyser, there is no reason everyone should not be investing in a FlipCamera, a little piece of software, doing some relevant guerilla videos and getting them uploading on mass.

Default Re: Does video work?

I joined Tubemogul and have been learning the video "thing" and used them to syndicate a video which was one of the promo tools provided by the affiliate product creator.

So they suspended my account and won't reinstate it. Here's what they said:

"Your account has been disabled due to your affiliate marketing content. Our video site partners expect that we will only send relevant content to their sites. In many cases (as a third-party distributor) we are held to a higher standard than if you uploaded directly to the site."

I simply cannot believe that I am the only person on the planet to have used Tubemogul to upload a promo video.

Just seems a little strange. Maybe if I used the paid version of Tubemogul the ethics would be more flexible?

Anybody else get banned?

Web video is 70% of what I do, both for myself and for businesses. There are lots of applications for video, and a GOOD, well thought out production can do wonders in terms of lead, traffic, conversion, and sales generation.

It's also the best tool (IMO) to creating relationships with your prospects and customers... and it gives them something to tweet, poke, bookmark, email, etc. about, bringing more to your front door.

Video does work, I have been creating y0utube accounts to other webmasters to utilize the big network with promotions to their site. And I am a newbie myself so it seems to work quite well.

Without question video works. The more you can put yourslef across and the more someone see's of you then the better chance you have of someone believing in you

I think both sound and video work! I mean think about it.. Wouldnt u rather listen or watch something in stead of going through a boring ebook or website?

Totally agree...but really we are only just at the beginning of mass video in marketing and figuring out how to handle the coloured, bold, underlined tactics of the proven copywriters their speed readers.

So video, short, to the point, relevant pieces and then think through the editing, incorporating, pull outs, reinforcement messages in your lower third of the screen etc.

Think like a copywriter even with video.
