Default Exactly why is keyword research so necessary?

Keyword research is all about forcing the search engines to discover your website. The vast majority of individuals who search on the internet do this using the main search engines and you therefore require to make these search engines find your site as often as possible. Even though things are altering rapidly, the various search engines carry on to be very text dependent. Quite merely, they read the words about the web page, and to a big extent they ignore graphics and video clip. However, Yahoo in particular is very keen on ranking video clip components too. This really is indicative of one more essential factor about the search engines, which is the fact that they are constantly adapting their practices to match ever-changing markets.

At this moment, however, search engines like google are overwhelmingly text dependent search tools, so Flash or Shockwave videos on your site count for absolutely nothing using the search engines. This in spite of the truth that your human visitors might love them! Virtually all from the search engines use ‘algorithms’ to figure out precisely how much they will rate a website that they analyze. Such algorithms are essentially programs (spiders) that can 'read' the words on your web page, after which they index that particular page dependent upon what the words inform them the page is all about, and how they value it. A correctly constructed web page is going to be focused on the particular keyword or expression. Making certain that this happens may be the concern of individuals who are included in the art of ‘search engine optimization’ (Seo).

The first action in the Seo procedure would be to discover the keywords or phrases that will be most effective for driving specific visitors to the webpage you want. The second thing is, the web page will be built around that specific keyword or phrase to make sure that the search engine ‘spiders’ understand that this may be the phrase you want to be ranked for. Keyword research should as a result be one of the most fundamental and essential ingredients of creating a web page that the search engines will visit, analyze and hopefully love. For that reason you'll need a list of keywords and most importantly, linked keywords for the web site or blog.

When a search engine spider visits your page, it would look at the most essential terms that you're utilizing, to ensure that anytime any web searcher types the same term into the search box, the engine exhibits them your website page. In this manner, the search engine assists you to send specific site visitors to your site. It's, as a result, vitally essential to use the correct and most suitable keyword phrase when constructing your web page.

Achieve this, and over time you will be able to generate a growing quantity of targeted prospects to your site.

I tend to take a different approach to this for rapid deployment

I don't spend much time in keyword research other than for niche discovery and what keywords trigger buyers in this niche

I take the approach of great content, the keywords will take care of themselves

My tracking stats tell me otherwise, I took your approach and it is flawed spending too much time doing this

I take the time doing keyword research and place it on getting great content up instead.

The techniques I use many times get me the same results with less effort.

Google wants content, it has the means to rank you as it wishes whether you focus on specific keywords or not.

With the recent changes is Google and Yahoo ranking system, I think that keyword research is now more important than ever.

The simple truth is that you help them while helping yourself.

Deliver quality content and you are ranked. But it doesn't stop there. Great content alone can not take you where a well researched keyword will take you. Both sure work together and needs to be used along.

If you have content without the right keywords, you will be somehow backward.

If you have keyword without content, your site will be a distraction to people and even the search Engines.

So do a quality work with your quality time

You are right do quality work.

I say what I say with research and testing over 10.5 million pages. Interesting enough what I found to work for myself using the 80/20 rule was very rich keyword content which works very well.

Where do I get this very rich keyword content?

Article Directories someone else has done all the keyword research for anyone so I leverage this to work in my favor.

You are right a balance is very necessary, to little of either keywords or low quality content will keep you static.

A short(but not real short) and simple reply is keywords are just that
(a word or combination of words that the search engines use to find content for the searcher)

Since a software program like Google's algorithm is looking at your search term or Keyword if you will, and matching that to a database(page-ranked) websites,blogs.etc. to determine what is the most relevant sites to show you based on your keyword or words search term.

That being said, if your trying to get a good listing in the search engines(a first or second page ranking for your term/keyword) you need to research and know if you can compete with the other sites for your keywords, or should you be finding another keyword or variation of your keyword that you may have less competition so that you have the chance to get on those 1st two pages for your keyword.
So understanding how to build your site or promo based on keywords that you can get good page ranking for is very important If you want to see traffic from the search engines to your site.

The other side of the coin is if you are doing a pay per click campaign to get quick traffic and you are using a very competitive keyword or keyword phrase(long tail)
you better have deep pockets, because a none researched, none optimized, highly competitive keyword can actually be penalized in the form of paying more and still not getting good ranking(AKA Traffic)

So This is just the tip of the iceberg about keyword research, and there are several ways to do it.
I hope this covers the basic question of is keyword research really important.

This is a forum. Not an article directory where you can post lightly spun content written by other people.

When you write things here, people accept it as your own words.
If you post content written by someone else, you must disclose the source or provide a link.

I thought it was something I unknowingly crossed the line, I have to sometimes reread and reread things sometimes to understand who was involved.

    Now back to the subject.......

Using keywords to improve your SEO is becoming more and more difficult due to the vast amount of competition out there for the same keywords. Sometimes it can be hard to decide whether you should use long tail keywords or short tail keywords. Other factors to consider are, should you use keywords where there is alot of competition with high search volumes or should you go with low search volumes with less competition.

Deciding which one you should use is usually a personal one but I do believe that if you want to achieve quick SEO rankings you are better off going for low competition long tail keywords, with monthly search volumes of greater than 2,000.

Choosing the right keywords can be vital to your success. Think of all the places where you will probably use your keywords:
    Your article title
    Your article body
Your squeeze and webpage pages title
    Your sales copy
and the list goes on and on.......

So because keywords are used throughout internet marketing to drive traffic your way, it only makes sense that you make sure that you get this part of your marketing strategy right or you could find that getting traffic through SEO is a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

Put very simply the answer to your question is that without targeted tarffic you will not get sales.

Keywords whilst an absolute must for sales is a small cog in the process. I.e. linkbuilding, seo and website development also play parts

I myself believe that keyword phrases, synonyms and LSI work well for building web pages and articles - as long as you write content that is primarily designed to be helpful and informative to the reader!

Original content that provides real value to the visitor will always trump pages that are packed full of keywords - and imagine what a potential customer must think when they arrive at a site or article that is so wrapped up in keywords it is hardly readable? It's a sure bet they won't stick around to find out what your offer is;)

I agree with every point here.
For those that are new to this I recommend using 3% keyword content in your articles.

Keywords are NOT integral to online success. It really depends on what business model you are following. This model obviously relies on the search engines for traffic. There are more ways to generate targeted leads though
