Lylette, as a 1-yr struggling network marketer, I generally hear that many never make it.
I want desperately to believe I can make it, if by no other reason as perseverance. To quit means I did not make every effort, either in what I am doing now or changing, to be successful. I trust that success is near and it may just be the strategy I am currently working that is not or I choose the incorrect path and it is time to try a different direction.
Unknowing your particular circumstances, making this final decision means never looking back. If that is what you ultimately decide, it must be yours and own it.
As has been stated by others, the answer could be around the next corner and therefore, a modification in the chosen strategy is all that needs to take place.
I trust what ever decision you make will be the correct one after you have weighed your options. I hope to hear of your success soon.
First off:
Have you got a website or blog in your niche, focus only on one thing just for 3 months.
If you built one 5 years ago and posted 1 article a week imagine the content
you would have on it now.
You are in the right forum now to move forward faster.
Your next 5 years will be more successful than the last 5 years, guaranteed.
Do not focus on "I have to make money on the internet" that will confuse you and when you don't see any results you will get frustrated and your brain won't work properly.
There is no quick cash method or magic bullet either.
Good luck hang in and I will be looking out for your website in your signature file.
Cheers...bruce...

Hi Everyone,
I must say I am overwhelmed with the encouragement that I am getting in the forum.
I must say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who posts their thoughts and encouragement on this thread.
Since joining this forum and posting this thread I have started to write a frequent blog abut my highs, lows and the knowledge I have gained these past five years attempting to build an online income.
This forum and the generosity from the members who responded to this thread have given me much inspiration over the past week since I joined.
I do hope this thread would help anyone else out there who is having doubts about their future in internet marketing.
Once again to everyone who posted Thank You.

Never, never never give up as Winston Churchill once said! I have been trying to get rich online for about 7 or so years and also have only recently started seeing success also because of what I have been learning from my new mentor, Chris Farrell , who is also a member on this forum, see his Internet Marketing posts.
You could do a lot better if you visited his site and considered joining his online membership as he really is the best I have found all these years of searching.
Recommended by thousands and not just myself.

Everyone should know that Internet Marketing is a skill that must first be learnt before getting started and that there is no get rich quick or short cut to creating wealth and a lasting successful business. Success only comes before work in the Dictionary. AFreeMan.

Hi Lylette

I guess it all boils down to what you have been doing the past 5 years....and if you have the passion to continue and make adjustments to your plan and approach that would move you in the right direction faster. But never quit because of failures or timeframe...if you are going to quit....quit because you want to do so.
In the end it is your own decision. Five years is along time but you probably have gained alot of skills in that time that many will never possess. It is just a matter of finding a way to monetize the knowledge you now have. I think we are all guilty of hopping from one thing to the next at times. Maybe you should just devote your time to one particular area and put 100% focus into that and see if your results change. I have a feeling you will stick with it bacause you probably would not be asking the question otherwise. I wish you luck.

If you ask me, I think it's high time you honestly assess yourself.
There are several questions you should ask.
1. Why are you doing this?
2. For whom are you doing this?
3. What are you trying to prove by doing this?
4. Have you stopped following the next big shiny thing?
5. What's your plan of action?
Answer these questions as detailed as possible. I believe you'll get the answer to your question.
If you need further help, please answer these questions and feel free to send me an email to: grace[at]stickyreviewers.com
May be I can help,
-Grace
Hi Lylette,
As someone else said, early on...what have you really invested the time on during the past 5 years?
Every champion, Olympic or otherwise, has to put in concentrated effort for a considerable time to become Gold medal material or even a State or National star.
What is it you REALLY want from IM?
Is it money, lifestyle, no boss, working from home, freedom to sit in front of the computer & claw away at every offer...dreaming of the big time...(c'mon...we all have done that at some time I'll bet!)
The first thing would be...Gaining clarity on what is your Why will release immense pressure on you & your creative & energetic juices will begin to flow again.
Next...Forget the Money. Don't chase the money. If you do, you will never catch it. Money follows value.
Value is created by solving peoples problems & getting inside their head to see what they want...then, do as the big guru says...
"give 'em stuff to make 'em happy & sell 'em more stuff to make 'em even happier!"
Money always follows value...so, your 5 years of experience have created something of value to at least one person out there, searching for what you have.
Create a product for that ONE person...see that person, know things about them, what they wear, how old they are, where they live, what they are searching for & so on. That type of person is your market.
It takes about 5,000 focused hours to replace a basic income in any job, anywhere.
It takes about another 5,000 hours to tweak the first 5,000 hours works to create a 6 to 7 figure income.
Do not be discouraged...focus, know your reason why, let the money thing go & concentrate on getting that one person's problem solved & go from there.
A good mentor can speed up the learning curve at lightening speed..."Here, do this, put that there, do that, bank the profits here!"
I wish we could all have one on one help!
See your "plight" as a Uni course. They have a schedule, focus, helpers & so on.
So, have a break, have a big think & come back here, refreshed & post your new schedule & get help from us all to help guide you.
Kindest regards,
Poppie

The advice from all of us here is NOT to quit. I stopped counting the times I wanted to quit and sometimes the thought still swirls around my brain. But I swat it aside like a mosquito trying to sting my arm.
I've failed miserably numerous times and spent countless of hours and money trying to figure out what works and what doesn't.
Here is my advice to you.
1. Stay away from the get rich now mentality.
2. Be yourself...do what you want to do. Develop and write content that you are passionate about.
3. Focus on your own abilities.
4. Learn from others.
5. Form a plan. It can be on paper or in your own mind.

I think that being at it for five years is absolutely amazing. I know I would have giving up by now. So this tells me, you have got tenacity and guts to stick with this for so long. Don't give up you would never forgive yourself to not see it through, as they say we never know what is around the next corner, and we would never know if we just give up. So carry on, just think of the wealth of knowledge you have, that you could be passing on to others, think about that, and make that work for you.

Yes, you should quit.
But quit doing all the unproductive stuff. Focus on one project until it's up and running, before moving onto anything else.
And definitely avoid all "opportunities"!
Just had a thought. This is a link to a brilliant talk by earl Nightingale. Very inspiring, but also very practical

I have both of these on my blog -- mostly for my readers, but I look at them at least once a week to make sure I've got my head in the right spot.
Get a coach or mentor.
Best of luck!

You just need to read the life stories of successful people and you will see they all suffered setbacks at some point in their working lives. The point is they used these mistakes as springboards to bigger and better things. For real inspiration read the story of Ray Kroc who introduced us all to Macdonalds. One of his (many) famous quotes is "If you work just for money, you'll never make it, but if you love what you're doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours. "
See how old he was when he finally succeeded.A real inspiration.

I would say that after 5 years of struggling online you have an excellent basis for a product and you will know one hell of a lot. I would make a start on writing an ebook and maybe doing some screen capture recordings. Something like 10 mistakes newbie Internet Marketers make and how to avoid them could be a great $47 product.
Keep at it. You have huge knowledge at your finger tips. As Churchill said "“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense”"
I am in the process of recording a whole lot of interviews with people on how they made their first dollar on the internet and would love to record you! PM Me if you are interested.

Consistency is a must to succeed. That's pretty simple but takes a lot of effort.

Focus Focus Focus. i've seen some comments on here that stay try one thing and stick to it fr a couple of months.Don't et caught up in following the "fad fo the day". That distracts you from focusing on doing one thing ell. Once you do one thing well the next and the next will come very easy !!!
