CBA 1-2-1 Competition Winner: My day with Kevin Potts
Hi Guys,
Our first 1-2-1 winner Valerie Lothian spent the day with Kevin. Here is the below on her own Blog:

Let's see how she got on...
How it all started
Initially this was going to be Testimony to Kevin Potts about my winning a 1-2-1 meeting with him, but the whole experience has turned out to be more than that, hence this blog.
After receiving an email from Kevin and Paul Lynch about a business building product launch from his Cambridge Business Academy (“CBA”), whilst reading it, I saw that there was a competition to meet him.
After liaising with Kevin and the other online Admins for many months, especially as a Beta Tester within the Elite Money Making Club (“EMMC”), I saw how personable and approachable they are with the forum members. I eagerly subscribed to the CBA and followed his competition instructions to requesting a 1-2-1.
After receiving a confirmation of my entry, I gradually forgot about it and carried on with my normal daily work and business activities.
I didn't have too long to wait. Within a few days, I received a Congratulations email from Kevin notifying me of winning their very first CBA 1-2-1 competition meeting.
Saying that I was excited was an understatement.
Now, not only did I have to plan what to say and do when I met him....I was even thinking about what best to wear!

Kevin's 1-2-1 email was clear and specific in the instructions of what to bring and what to think about regarding business objectives and challenges. There was no need to worry about anything. I just knew to turn up and enjoy spending quality time with him.
The Journey
The day came (Thursday 4th February) and even with a 20 minute traffic delay, I arrived in Cambridge more or less on time and Kevin was there to greet me.
It was immediate smiles and although it was a funny thing to think, I really wanted to say to him “you look just like you do in your videos.” It was a short 5-7 minute car journey and during that time, Kevin shared that he'd been up early and had already done 4 video blogs before meeting me.
We discussed more about our experiences and business ethics and it made me see just how down to earth and open he is, just like how we see him in the forum and in his blogs.
One extra thing that we do share in common is a big laugh, and plenty of those were shared right throughout the day.
We soon arrived at our destination: the infamous CBA which is also Kevin's house.

Upon entering I was shown into the main office and met Ian, Kevin's CBA business partner and Technical Director and Jo (Kevin's son), the creative in the main office.
I also had the great pleasure of meeting Kevin's wife who has her own Counselling/Home Help business.
I was taken on a tour around his home, which also doubled-up as a home/office. It was lovely to see the wedding and family pictures on display in the living room. We then we moved outside where I was shown the garden and his other passion - his motorbike.
Next door, I was introduced to the studio where the majority of his video blogs are filmed. I saw the famous whiteboard where he regularly shares his stratagems and the other equipment used to 'set the scenes'.
It was fascinating. I felt like I was in a section of Ealing film-making studios.
The 1-2-1
We moved back to the house for the 1-2-1 meeting.
I brought along my competition entry and although Kevin didn't ask for it, I also had my CV, as it paints a professional time-line picture of my background and history. That was the main basis on which we had the 1-2-1.
Looking back, my professional journey has gone from working as a part-qualified Accountant in Corporate Finance and my job being made redundant, to where I later started my own small Stress Management Coaching business called Focusivity.
Since joining the main Honest Work From Home Success (HWFHS) forum – I've also developed into an active Internet Marketer/Specialist in a niche area.
In between that time, my passion is still emphasised for Counselling, Stress Management, Coaching, Mentoring, Training and supporting others to realise their potential and ambitions.
This struck a mutual cord as I know that the support work is something that Kevin does, with his Church Ministerial background and charity work.
All the time I was at the meeting, I felt very relaxed and comfortable. We sat on his large sofa and chairs which made me feel like I was visiting for tea, as opposed to an informal business meeting.
Kevin was focused in his observations to help accelerate my success in that we went over my business and progress to date and I stated my particular objectives and any challenges where I wanted help.
I stated that on a daily basis, at least 70% of my time is focused on online and off-line forum business building activities and that the combination of the HWFHS and CBA were exactly what I needed. As well as the extra support given from my EMMC Beta Tester colleagues, and from the forum founders/admin to help accelerate my success.
We continued to share ideas until eventually it was lunchtime. I was feeling quite peckish and was glad that lunch was going to happen in a nearby location: Kevin's bright, homely kitchen.
Just a few strides away and the table was laid, a pot of tea was brewed and the food and drink was shared.
Lunch
Lunch was simple and enjoyable and was akin to an indoor picnic. We were eventually joined by Ian his Technical Director, where further business strategies were discussed.
It was a very pleasant 'getting to know you' experience and gave a further insight into Kevin's working day with his family, business partner(s) and team.
The day and meeting was even more special as it was also my Birthday and I received a 'special' cake and a signed card....and yes, I was subjected to a rendition of the 'Happy Birthday' song with candle-blowing requests from Kevin.

At the end, I even saw Kevin clear away the table and shake out the tablecloth, which shows that he knows his way around his kitchen.
Post Lunch
After lunch, we continued with our 1-2-1 sofa meeting where on his laptop, Kevin showed me the overview of the Academy with it's progress and plans for development.
I saw first hand the workings of the system that all jv partners will use prior to fully launching the site. It was great to see and know that I would soon be a part of it. I also knew that this really was Kevin's baby growing before his eyes.
Another exciting part of the day was actually being filmed as part of a blog.
He recorded it based on the day's activities and my being the first 1-2-1 CBA competition winner.
I was also given the opportunity to give my feedback on camera, which was lovely, although the volume was turned up to capture my words.
The biggest laugh of the whole day came when it was time for me to leave.
Kevin I have to share this, as it made me laugh out loud while on the tube going home.
I was gathering my papers and belongings ready to leave, and pointed to my CV on the coffee table. Kevin thought that I was holding out my hand as a goodbye gesture, and promptly shook it while telling me 'goodbye'.
I screamed out loud laughing as he did this automatically, without reading my body language or seeing what I was pointing at.
That again was another sign of his comic personality, and every time I think of that day, that particular incident still gives me the biggest smile

Meeting Kevin was a true reminder that he is just like the majority of the forum members, in that he does work from home, it's just that his business set-up may be bigger than most people's.
I left the meeting inspired and with more insight. As soon as I got back to my home/office, I registered to become a CBA JV partner to help promote the EMMC and further build my beta testing success and knowledge, on the internet.
1-2-1 Meeting Tips:
These tips may seem obvious but can also serve as a refresher.
1.Carefully follow Kevin's instructions as this will help your 1-2-1 meeting run smoothly
2.* Only bring any extras (if deemed necessary) to highlight or help promote your business
3.Plan your journey to Cambridge well, allowing for any extra time
4.Attend with an open heart and mind
5.Be prepared to laugh and enjoy yourself too, as you can bet that Kevin will.
Note:
I realise that it may not suit everyone to bring their CV with them, as some people may want to use a less personalised and more focused resume, such as a brief Business Plan.
