Default How To Choose A Guru

Which internet marketing experts should you turn to? These people, who have been tagged as "gurus" by some, have more experience in the IM world than others. But, it seems like there's a new "guru" on the block every day. So who should you trust? Here's a check list on how to evaluate internet marketing experts.

    1. Have they actually made money doing the things they are advising you to do? Ironically, many internet marketing "experts" are most expert at promoting themselves. They'll tell you, for instance, to stay out of the "internet marketing" niche because the "experts" have it cornered. Instead, they'll say to go into less competitive niches. But, if you press them, they will have to admit that they've never been in any other niche themselves.

    2. Are they transparent? The "gurus" that I like best are the ones who will show you what niches are actually making them money. They're not afraid they'll lose their precious "position" to someone less experienced than they are. This transparency allows you to evaluate them wisely.

    3. Do they give you a step by step plan? The internet marketing experts who are best at teaching newbie and internet marketers are those who can provide detailed, step by step plans for success.

    4. Do you trust that they have done what they say? It's really easy to say they made "a million dollars" from a system when you are on the internet. You don't even have to keep a straight face. You can also photoshop paypal and clickbank screenshots to "show" that you have made a lot more money than you really have. So, when finding a guru to follow, you should have a gut feeling that they have done what they've said they've done.

    5. Is their plan something you feel you can do? There are many kinds of internet marketing experts. Some recommend setting up a network of blogs and doing a ton of writing. Others use pay per click marketing in their strategies. Some urge you to go offline and contact business owners to build websites for them. All of these strategies can work. The trick is to find a guru who can teach you the strategies you are most comfortable with yourself.

    6. Do they say you can do it with "no work." Let's face it, there's very little in life that you can achieve with no work. Every once in a while, someone hits a jackpot - whether it is in Las Vegas or online. But, for the most part, making money of any kind requires work. If you see a guru promising a "no work" system, run away fast.

    7. Is it ethical? There are a number of ways you can make money on the internet that some can live with and others find downright unethical. Make sure you are able to live with yourself in the morning before you start any internet marketing scheme.

There are many people claiming to be internet marketing "experts." Choose wisely before selecting a "guru" to follow.

If you study enough of them you can glean some good information...

Why would they tell you how to make tons of money for a few hundred dollars?

The money is in the "how to secrets" ..normally don't give you the real details to make it work....

The "SD" is a joke lol...

a no named loser hiding behind a computer making fun of people... can't take that seriously. Sure, he may have some good points, but doesn't mean these gurus are "scammers".

Did this guy purchase all the gurus products to see if they are a scam or is he just running his mouth for attention? He posts peoples personal info- does he post his own? Because I dont see it...

Some of the "scammers" hes talking about have great products. this guy is full of it.. must have not had attention as a child , hahahahaha

as dan kennedy says.. if your not pissing people off your doing something wrong... getting bashed at the top comes with the territory... like politics lol

"But the fact that he's been running this site this for over a year and hasn't been sued must indicate something!"

it does. it indicates that the "scammers" are too busy making money to direct focus onto a time/money wasting event

If you are looking for a mentor or guru to kick start yourself into success. Then a huge ups to you. This is the best way to fast track your success. Again the big question as outlined in this post is how do you find the right mentor. My advice would include...

First fo all find decide and find out the niche you want to pursue. You must become an expert in a particular field. To do this you need to dedicate a lot of time and energy into it, so make sure it something you truly enjoy and love to do, otherwise you will never reach your aspirations.

Once you have found your niche, then do research into the best into the field and see if they offer coaching programs. It is very rare to find an ebook that is going to give you the success you are after, as people are going to be hesitant to give up everything they know/you need to know. Essentially you want to be apart of a limited group coaching program. Yes the less limited the more expensive. But remember a lot of people become successful from helping others become successful.

So when selecting your mentor make sure you like their style of work, ideas, way they operate the way the teach and even the way they write/speak etc, becasue you will be aligning yourself with their teachings so again it is important that you believe in them, their style and knowledge, as this is what you will learning and applying into your business.

Sure it is a slightly bigger investment than a ebook etc but the content and personal support is most important in a selecting guru/mentor because I am sure you will have a lot of questions you need clarifying or need advice on. And this investment will pay off very quickly.

You will also find very quickly that the majority of successful people have a mentor who has a mentor who has a mentor

And they make an investment and sometimes a big investment to ensure they get the right direction and support as I believe this is essential.

In my opinion, a true Guru will respond to e-mails and not make ridiculous claims. A true guru will talk about things to NOT do as well as those things you should do.

The other thing I would stay away from is - anyone calling themselves a guru is probably someone to stay away from. Most true top people don't look at themselves in those terms - only the hypster's.

    That is my opinion.

It is usually only through experience that you begin to find out who the mentors are who can help you. It maybe that one person is right for you and someone else is right for me.

For instance I now find I pay far more attention to the emails from marketers I have grown to respect. In the end I realise it is up to me to achieve the success I desire. However, it is always helpful to follow proven systems that are working for someone else. I have learnt alot from courses I have invested in and will continue to do so.

For me at the point I am at now, Saving time/being more effective with the time I do have is of most importance to me - when I first started out the only thing I was interested in was $$$ - I had all of the time in the world - lol.

    Funny how things change.

I have paid for a couple of courses while learning to make money online, but I have to tell you most of the information you get you can learn for free by doing research on the type of marketing you decide to pursure.

I personally have been following a marketing expert for about a year now who has build several 7 figure businesses over the last 12 years and his weekly show is FREE. Can't beat that and the content is great!

People say you get what you pay for but sometimes you can find gold nuggets out there.

That is a real guru then (probably won't call himself that).

If someone really is an expert in making money online, they will not need to charge thousands for their material. They will have enough income through their company and will gladly share their info with people. That way they have a chance to get a great team mate (people follow people who help them; I mean REALY help them).

A proven "system" is to help others and build realtionships. What is network marketing without a network?

Thank you for your brining that up, vpgemini

I quit giving Guru's my money long ago.
I found people that were gracious enough
to take an interest and mentor me.
Easy to find no, can they be found yes.

I agree with finding strategies that intersect with your interests. So much time must be invested that you might as well be doing something you love. Otherwise, you won't get as excited about working on your home based business. For me, if I can't get excited about what I'm doing, I'll be finding something else to do.

It's also important to see what get's others exited. You might find a niche that you really like and use a lot of time on, but when you start exploring it there is not much of a market for it.

To borrow the words of Michael Dlouhy: "I would rather find a product with a crowd of earger buying customers and then fall in love with that product".

There are a lot of things I love to do, but not all of it will give me a life of financial freedom ;)

Legitimate point of view that warrants a look again at some hungry markets that I originally marked with a "maybe later" under my original evaluation. Thanks for reminding me of that file in my desk!
