I've been doing traffic generation for a week.
It's not brilliant but there is a lot more to do.

I like Digg quite well and a couple others but Digg has been my main one and DOES send traffic. I use it mainly for posting my links from my approved articles and it seems to really help.

I have about 2k followers but the traffic is not that good. No one is buying they are busy following each other rather than doing business.

I heard once that you need to be active on Twitter if you want to get traffic and as I see you are because you got traffic but yes they aren't buying. I am still not on Twitter,
and I've been seriously thinking should I start it or not.

When is the best time to Tweet?

I am in the UK and there are so many time Zones in the US.
Some of my followers are in the UK and some in the USA.

I have heard that it's best to Tweet morning, lunch time and evening UK time.
What do you think?

I totally agree with Eric's post Twitter has become this roundabout of marketers selling to marketers selling to ..... (you get the point).

If everyone is selling to everyone on your followers list then who is buying?

I have 3 Twitter accounts at the moment (not sure if that against the rules but I do)

One is my personal one which I never use because twitter is as dull as toast without jam!

My other two are purely for link juice - yes twitter profiles have a do-follow element, yes all out going links are No-Follow. But google have changed the rules (big surprise).

With there recent changes they have integrated Twitter into there search results. now those 100 or so word tweets are even more vital to get right.

I don't know if the appearance of tweets on google is based on the amount of people following your tweets or if it is only on the triggered keywords within the tweet when the search was performed. But they refresh every time someone tweets that keyword - without the searcher refreshing there page.

So if you get lucky and some one searches for your tweets keyword within 5 min of you tweeting it and they open the social media bit on the search and see your post and click your link before your tweet gets lost in obscurity then great. otherwise its really a waist of time and effort.


On a side not I use Onlywire to link all my social networking/bookmark site together. One click and mass submit. save a lot of time and effort.

Stumble upon, agreed! But how many times do you tweet daily? And the key is also making the tweets fancy... attractive... Sometimes from 1 tweet you can get 25 uv... happened to me.

Stumble upon is also a good resource to get targeted traffic, as well as
twitter

If you are new to twitter there are a great deal for you to learn.
I do agree with what was said before If every post you make is
SPAM you won't get any followers or traffic.80% of twitter users are doing just that spam in every post. Most users you see with the big following list are not using spam to gain followers give them good content quality content. Offer them a free report on a subject you know about and you will get traffic and conversions.

If you can solve peoples problems or offer a solution they are more likely
to respect and start to trust you.

Twitter is just like anywhere else if you have something that fulfills a need or is something they want they will come,just don't tell them you will only see this offer once crap. If you send them anywhere for any offer give them what you promised before anything else people don't like to be sold to. Take care of your list and they will become responsive to your call to action.

Hi Rob,

You can certainly get traffic through twitter and as some of the above posts mention, it is not a selling tool but a tool to drive people to your quality content from there you can then push them towards an offer or an opt in page.

This is the way in which i use twitter

Good tips guys but I still can't make me start using Twitter.

I read Frank Kern's Mass Control pdf and he says something I'll have to agree with on this one...

...I hate trying to get traffic from Twitter.

It's good for backlinks...and the occasional click but Twitter kinda sucks anymore.

It's getting bigger in the UK and I've found it's much easier, and faster to build your relationships.

I just love twitter. Its one of my greatest favorite. If you understand how to use it,
you will make more profits than before.

I never have a chance to get a huge traffic from twitter , just 10 to 20 visitors , and also they are useless just increases bounce rates, nothing else.

i register one twitter account just now. but i do not know how to use it to get traffic effectively.

Search for people who may be interested in your niche, and follow them, and contribute tweets about your niche, tweets that provide information, that show you know what you are talking about - if you wrote a blog post that they might find interesting post it, or if you saw a Youtube video (put it on your site) then write a post (think of why they should want to know) when you write and it helps your tweet to be more persuasive, but if you establish yourself as knowledgable then the people in your niche will come to your site.

Find people in the niche and follow them - out of courtesy a high % will follow back.
Weed out the ones who are not tweeting, have no avatar, (daily or weekly task) and keep adding more - have a link to your Twitter Account in your web pages, when you make a blog post add a link to Tweet this ... over time you will build up a group of followers who are interested in seeing what you tweet about.
