I have tried article writing but not with great success, do you have any tips on getting more click throughs from articles you submit?

I have found the best way to get traffic to your website is to be patient and take time building your list. I know this can seem frustrating at times when you are not make any money, but being polite and building a relationship with people in your list will reap loads of rewards. They will trust you, respect you and eventually they may start buying things from you. Don't just offer them gifts to purchase, start of by offering them free giifs, then when they see that you are not just after their money they will be more likely to purchase from you at a later date. Be patient, carry on writing informative articles and i time you will get the rewards you deserve. Just don't give up or get too impatient.

I post my articles to my website along with posting them to the article directories.

Are they the same articles or do you rewrite them for every directory? If you submit different versions of the articles, do you rewrite them yourself, outsource rewriting or spin them?

Won't such a strategy drive traffic to your competitors benefiting them more than you?

Now, after your ezinearticles is approved, when using lower-rank article directories (ideasmarketers, articlecity, articlealley and hundreds others), in your resource/bio box, add the link back to your original ezinearticles.

Why? This helps build backlinks to your articles and boost its ranking search engines. But don't overdo this.

What is the risk of overdoing it?

I do a lot of different things with my websites and I have a lot of websites, several blogs, a forum and a whole host of online stuff.

I have tried a lot of different things, from free blogs, free sites, link exchanges, forum posting, yahoo groups, and well you name it and I have done it.

So what is the absolute best way to drive traffic to your site?

Without a doubt it is by using article directories. Write articles related to your sites content, make them interesting and make sure they are key work appropriate and then watch the traffic come to your site.

If you are unfamiliar with the process here is a quick over view:

1. You write an article related to the subject of your website

2. You post this article to an article directory - with a very well written authors resource box - This is the box at the end of the article that tells a little bit about you, and gives links to your website where the reader can find more interesting stuff about the subject.

3. People read the article and click on the link to your website - plus you get the added bonus of getting back links in the search engines. The search engines see these articles and what they are about and they see the link to your website so they give your website more importance in the subject.

There are several benefits to this, not just more traffic. You also improve your writing skills and you get more content for your website. I post my articles to my website along with posting them to the article directories. Also, these article directories have lots of articles you can use on your site. You simply cut and paste the article (including the authors resource box for the author that wrote it) and you have instant content on your site.

Every article directory has rules on posting articles and rules on copying articles. Make sure you follow all these rules exactly with no variation.

Can you comment on the importance of the keyword in the articles you post to directories. Should it be the main nich keyword or long tail keyword?

Thanks. This is good info. I have been doing a faster, quicker way which really boosts the unique and actually general traffic too by using press releases. We worked really hard for 3 months creating a FREE list of websites where press releases can be submitted and many of these are FREE too so you could do these for totally free if you have no money to pay for anything. We have experienced, due to the approval process, slow effect on articles but that isn't true of press releases. Our list is over 400 and we have personally looked at every website on there. We add new ones when we find them but there hasn't been too many recently.

Other than spending tons of hours writing articles (which I'm not that good at because I'm more a 'direct-response' copywriter -- and yes, I understand 'spinning' too) what is your one best tip for getting targeted traffic RIGHT NOW, outside of using Google PPC?

Don't forget their are loads of other way's to drive traffic for example youtube videos, some day's youtube gets more traffic than google, so either create your own video or find a video that has a lot of views in a similar topic to your niche and if the video owner doesn't appear to be Internet Marketing savvy and doesn't have a link in their video or resource box you can contact them and pay to have your link on their video/resource box.

I have tested many systems for driving traffic and I agree that the articles provide the most backlinks and therefore build traffic however, they take time to be approved alot of the time and then for the article to be copied to other websites seems to take some time unless you have a high quality article with either needed content or popular topic of the day. Press releases also provide ALOT of traffic though but are faster whereas they, many times, are live online in a few hours or a day or so plus the press releases seem to drive up the keyword ranking relatively fast but other elements affect this of course just like with articles. Many of the same rules apply. A really good list of press releases with hyper links and over 100 free submission places is located at:

There is one minor difference too. Most of the press releases do not need to be rewritten as articles need to be.

I would recommend this method of generating traffic.. but you will need to do teh ground work first..

The only problem with that is your ezine article might be considered duplicate content then and its ranking could suffer. Try posting a slightly longer version on your site, and let them know to read more they can continue at your site. And on top of just being longer if you want to change it around a bit more, try rewording the first paragraph too.

Or just make it 2 seperate articles. You should be able to go through and rephrase portions of it and use some different words and have 2 unique articles in just a few minutes, since you are not re-writing the whole thing.
