Thread: The Best Way To Drive Traffic To Your Website

I do a lot of different things with my websites and I have a lot of websites, several blogs, a forum and a whole host of online stuff.

I have tried a lot of different things, from free blogs, free sites, link exchanges, forum posting, yahoo groups, and well you name it and I have done it.

So what is the absolute best way to drive traffic to your site?

Without a doubt it is by using article directories. Write articles related to your sites content, make them interesting and make sure they are key work appropriate and then watch the traffic come to your site.

If you are unfamiliar with the process here is a quick over view:

1. You write an article related to the subject of your website

2. You post this article to an article directory - with a very well written authors resource box - This is the box at the end of the article that tells a little bit about you, and gives links to your website where the reader can find more interesting stuff about the subject.

3. People read the article and click on the link to your website - plus you get the added bonus of getting back links in the search engines. The search engines see these articles and what they are about and they see the link to your website so they give your website more importance in the subject.

There are several benefits to this, not just more traffic. You also improve your writing skills and you get more content for your website. I post my articles to my website along with posting them to the article directories. Also, these article directories have lots of articles you can use on your site. You simply cut and paste the article (including the authors resource box for the author that wrote it) and you have instant content on your site.

Every article directory has rules on posting articles and rules on copying articles. Make sure you follow all these rules exactly with no variation.

I agree that you need to follow their rules exactly, especially if you use ezinearticles they do not have a sense of humour if you miss something. Also if you are going to post the article on your own site as well you need to submit to ezinearticles first as they will question it if they find it somewhere else on the site and then you have to prove it is actually you who wrote the original article.

My ezinearticles tips...

Post a UNIQUE article on ezinearticles (high ranking article directory).

Make sure your in your resource box, you have an anchor text for your keyword. Offer a special bonus/report if you have one.

Ping your article using pingler.com (optional)

Now, after your ezinearticles is approved, when using lower-rank article directories (ideasmarketers, articlecity, articlealley and hundreds others), in your resource/bio box, add the link back to your original ezinearticles.

Why? This helps build backlinks to your articles and boost its ranking search engines. But don't overdo this.

People do not find your articles by browsing the directory but through search engines based on keywords. So, you also want to pick the title of your articles and keywords carefully.

The keywords on your article should contain 2-3 keywords of every hundred words (2-3% keyword density).

You can also use RSS marketing in your article marketing effort -- just grab the RSS of your articles and submit it to RSS directories. For me, I use RSS Bot as a tool.

Continuing writing good quality articles on hot topics, and you'll boost the traffic of your article marketing effort.

I was able to generate 500 views within a week using these techniques.

Now as far as writing goes -- I'm not a good writer, but someone full of ideas. That's all you need! Just ideas and you can either outsource to someone, or free write and have others edit your article. I sometimes use PLR (Private Label Rights) articles to get ideas and then start writing.

Also when I visited pingler.com it offered a ping list that you could use ...couldn't I just copy those sites in their pinglist and add to mine or replace mine all together with theirs as theirs appears to contain more sites?

If you only write articles and will add it in one or another of the articles directory, it will drown in the myriad of other items. You need to make a big promotion! Not matter how high is article directory PR, it's important how high is PR of your article!

While articles are a great traffic source, I have to disagree... I think getting affiliates to promote your products is the best traffic source
