A simple solution for long term gain is to build a list. Once built you can do adswaps with other lists which will easily bring 1000 visitors a week to a site. Yes, difficult to start off with but think of your website as a long term business.

I agree 100% with you there.
This is what we all have to remember,that it is a long term business,but if you are using the free traffic methods the only thing you need is time & patience

i agree with profile link power , list building is simply the easiest way to get some consistent money all the time.

You should not be interested in the quantity of your visitors but the quality of them. Clients that actually buy products are the ones you should be interested in.

How you can advice a complete novice "to try" PPC?
It is not ethically and dishonest!
This "try" can burn very big hole in the pocket of anyone who has no idea how to play the game.
My advice is:
Use any strategies to generate traffic for free and do not try to "test a water" at Google Adwords without the Teacher who can take you by the hand and protect from unlimited losses.
There are so many different ways to generate traffic for free, that you can not imagine!
Stay away from the paid methods! At least at the very beginning!

I know one guy who is using PPC advertising to generate "huge traffic".
His daily investment into this game is way over $10,000.
If you know the rules of Google Adwords and do not afraid to take a risk, you can play with this beast "Russian roulette".
Last, but not least: you need to have very deep pockets, because in this game the winner is unpredictable.
Never think you are smarter than Google Guys!
