Thread: I need to better my writing skills

I am looking to ways to better my writing skills so I can write good content and how to tactfully sell my products holly mann recommends "copywriting tricks of the trade 50 essitials everyone should know" has anyone read this book or have others recommendations that i could use to better my skills and become successful

I think I mentioned this in another thread (or that may have been a different forum entirely) but this is about the best $10 bucks you could hope to spend on a marketing book:

"The Ultimate Sales Letter" by Dan Kennedy. Available at most any bookstore.

Hi Richard,

Read as many different books on writing as you can. They will help you learn some aspects.
However, nothing beats practice.
Grab some free PLR packages of articles and practice rewriting them so their quality is better than the original.
There are plenty of free ebooks on writing. I will go through my collection and give you some links.

It depends on what type of writing you are doing. Copywriting is a whole 'nother kettle of fish compared to content writing.

When it comes to writing, in general, I believe that reading will help. Expose yourself to the beauty of the written word as much as you can. Some of the phrasing and polish will stick in your mind.

The other major key is to just keep writing. It will improve your flow and help unleash your creativity. The more you practice, the easier and more engaging your writing will become.

my bit of advice:

Just remember whatever you write you are telling a story - you need to involve the reader in the content of the article by the way you tell the story. For example ask them a question or make a personal statement etc.

You don't need perfect grammar but what you write must flow and make clear sense. There is nothing more distracting than an article that doesn't flow or make sense because the reader has to stop and figure out what is being said.

Correct spelling is very important. Poor spelling puts doubt in the mind of the reader as to the value and originality of the article.

Proof reading is also pretty essential to ensure the final product is up to scratch.

Good advice, Michael Field Dodgson. Like Richard, there are also times when my confidence is being tested. I don’t feel I am doing it right and that I am already running out of words. But I think constant practice and reading a lot will help me hone my skills. And I intend to do that.

If you want to improve your copyrighting skills I definitely recommend you follow the work of one of the top copywriters of all time, Dan Kennedy who's "Ultimate Sales Letter" is a great book to study from to improve your copywriting skills.

Also, I highly recommend you sign up for free to copywriting legend Gary Halbert's "The Gary Halbert Letter". It's an amazing resource, since his writing is so laid back , so conversational and highly revered by many.
