Is anyone else concerned that many article marketing directories will publish your articles, but put links to other websites embedded in your article? I wrote an article and submitted it to Article Base with a link back to my website. They embedded two links in my article to someones website and my link wasn't even active.

Did you contact the article directory and, if so, what was their response?

If you haven't, your first step should be to contact them for their comments on this incident.

Also, did you fully read their Terms & Conditions etc before submitting articles to them.

I also noted such in one of the article directories. There were some text links in the content of my article, which I had not inserted. But I just decided to ignore it. I just thought it was a normal thing. But my links were active. Next time when noting such, I will follow it up to get explanations.

There are still many article directories available. You may want to try it with others instead and put a stop with that one. Also, do not forget to submit a support ticket for your complaint and keep us posted here.

Thanks for the input Michael. I dropped that directory and am currently using 4 others and would like to add 2 more that don't embed the competitions link in the body of my article. I looked at your link and will give it some thought when I have time to really look at it.

I did contact them and they told me I could put my link in my bio, which I had done, but didn't respond to my article having competitors links embedded in my article body. I just eliminated them from my submission sites. Thanks for your input.

While publishing your articles, there are two option which you will see there -

One is This Article is Copywrited

Another one is anyone can republish your article with the resource.

If you are facing these problem don’t choose the republish option. I think it can save your own article to use for someone else promotion.

I finally got a reply from ArticleAlley and they basically said that' the way it is. I quit publishing on those directories that work that way. There are plenty of directories.

Hi john, at least your issue can now be set to issue resolved. Yes, never worry; there are others around which can satisfy your needs and which can really help you. Sometimes we learn things the hard way and it’s pretty okay, the best thing is we’re learning.

A lot of people aren't aware and don't read the rules and regulations in detail.

Several article directories sell advertising on there sights and some will insert paid advertisers links with your article(you give them the right when you join in there terms and conditions.)

Although most directory's don't do this, some do!
always check the terms and conditions.

Also if you check the option to not give the right for redistribution, then you pretty much kill your chance's for your article being picked up and syndicated (AKA a heck of a lot more views) Which For most of us,this is the reason where submitting the article.
