Thread: Payments or Commission Scheme

I am really interested to know the payment scheme or commissions that are being offered by your affiliates. Do the virtual world has its standard? Or it varies?

I believe that affiliates generally pay commissions based on sales.
I doubt that any other way would work properly for all concerned.

The work I do isn't for affiliates. I write articles and other material and I charge "per piece" so I know what I am going to earn for each job.

the standard is at least 50% it ranges and top affiliates (bigger names) will usually get a higher %

Hey Michael!

I generally pay out 50% on the front end and 40-60 on the back end and 10 to 20% on a second tier referall.
2nd tier is if you referred someone then you get an override from there sales.
I also normally pay 40-60% on monthly recurring sales.
Also in some cases for some of my JV's that have large lists I may pay 70% or more on the front end.

A lot depends on the product, the price point and of course my cost.

you really need to look at several things and your reason for the product.

Is it being used to build you a list? or create a list and income?

Hi,
Consider promoting a subscription site that has recurring 50% commission. So you get 50% of the sale every single month the member remains a member.

The recurring situation can keep the money flowing as your base, and the one-off sales for other products become the icing on the cake.

There is no standard. The trend seems to be that physical products sold, like those from Amazon and Walmart, can earn affiliates anywhere from 4% to 20% in commissions.

Info product downloads, from smaller business owners, may push 30% to even 100% commission (usually the owner benefits on the backend while the affiliate keeps the front end). The exception is iTunes (they only sport 6% commission...those scrooges)

I'm assuming that affiliates earn smaller commissions on physical products because companies have to also worry about the cost of shipping and handling.

So tis up to you how you want to pay affiliates.
