I have done my own article directory and I can confirm that a lots of peoples write articles for link building.

I am not so sure about social bookmarking links anymore, I have tried so many tools and software over the years but found that my serps don't go up much if any

Combine this and you cant go wrong.

Someone mentioned blog commenting... yes this can be a great way to get backlinks.

However, when commenting on WordPress blogs your link might be "no-follow". There are different WP plugins that the blog owner can use to give back to their commentors, one to change the link to "do-follow" and the other plugin is "commentluv" (which will link back to your latest blog post from your blog).

If both of these are active, then blog commenting can be a good idea. But in other niches besides internet marketing and blogging, a lot of people won't know about those plugins.

Many forums will have do follow links from your profile. This way you don't have to post anything and possibly upset the owner who may think your spamming the site. If you post a comment to get the backlink make sure that it is a good informative comment.

Yes, these are pretty basic link building tactics one must do. This is really helpful for beginners though there wasn't a need for this at this time. Anyone with good googling skill would find all over the place. Since I was expecting something new after reading the headline of this post, this is a bit of a disappointment. Anyway, let's think of ways for new and more effective ways beyond these fundamental ones.

By the way, you shouldn't have posted this in this forum if you wanted a better viewership. This is dedicated for affiliate marketing, isn't it?

Let's call spade a spade.

There are a few important factors that influence whether these links pass juice to your main site.

1. The authority and PR of your mini sites
2. Whether the mini sites are on diversified IP addresses or not
3. Age of your mini sites
4. Whether or not SE spiders crawl them

While there is no practical problem with going ahead, the point is whether you are sure of benefiting from this.

Thanks for the info. I'm also a big supporter of article submitting too. I use ASHelper software, as it is free and because I use a Mac. You can submit articles to over 150 sites for free, but it also has the advantage of being able to spin your articles automatically, so it can submit unique content to all of the sites. The best part is that all of the submission is done automatically, so it saves a heap of time !

I thought Google had downgraded the value of directory links, because they have been 'abused' by marketers? Or am I misinformed?
