interesting mix of responses.

I am on the fence at present....but I can't for the life of me figure out why people want to know you are "going for a bath, got up early this morning bla bla...." But you can include links and link building is what SEO and traffic is all about.

The key to using Twitter or Sokule is following only people in the same interest categories as yourself and un-follow the rest.Following fashion models has it's appeal to men but does nothing in terms of enticing your target market to read what you have to offer if what you are trying to do is promote yourself first and then your programs.

I follow people in my niche and I get sent famous quotes...how does that help me in my niche?

I understand it is motivational, but I am missing the point about how this will build my business.

When you tweet on a regular basis tweet only,for a while,about what you can offer your followers in terms of free resources and information in order to establish a trusting relationship.Hitting them with promotions right away just alienates your followers.Read their tweets to see what they offer and need and start exchanging information.It may necessitate direct one on one messaging with some of the followers but the key is relationship building.My offers are in my web site for the most part but I tweet about new blog posts and get readers that way It takes time to find out what kind of articles will retain them as readers .I got their attention at least and once There are more readers of my blog coming from Twitter an occassional subtle offer will be in order.Growing a business does not come overnight.Leave promotions to advertising and e-mail campaigns and first gain trust from social media followers before trying to push any promotions onto them.

Well, Paul is just about to start an "experiment" here using Twitter to make money.....so why not let the expert to show us how??

No I've not heard of revtwt.com.....but I'm going to check it out right now

its a search engine/web directory....very basic! I haven't found a link to post or buy ads yet tho

It basically works like an affiliate posting tweets ,but these tweets act like adword ads.Each click brings in a little money to you.If you use this route don't overdo it or Twitter will ban you for spamming.

I think a lot of people are using Twitter for the wrong reasons. You need to think about why you are using Twitter. Are you trying to sell something? Or get traffic to your site? For me personally, I am using it to get traffic to my site. I currently have over 20k followers, but I auto follow anyone who follows me. I have friends who say I am one of the reasons why Twitter sucks, but I always thought that part of social media was to be social and be part of the conversation, not leading it.

Regardless, my twitter account sends about 7% of traffic to my site every month, so it's a very essential part of my strategy.

I dont think so if you are using twitter as a conversion tool,
But if you talk about raw traffic, yes twitter works really good, you keep on tweeting the links and if your followers are really in relation or in interest of what you offer they will deffintly go for it, Then that traffic can be converted!

For me, Twitter at first was an obtrusive monster.
All I got were DM's from people marketing at me.
What I did later was Dm people myself---NOT with anything promotional,
but to ask their opinions of some of my ideas.
What happened as a result were some great intellectual friendships,
a partnership venture, several free documents that were helpful,
and thoughtful, knowledgeable people to give feedback.

Strangest thing...now I rarely get any marketing offer DM's.

In short, I do not use it to market or to make money.
But through building relationships, I have realized income as a result of
partnering, getting good feedback, sharing, and observing.

I have read this long thread on Twitter and I have just started on Twitter to see if it will drive traffic to my sites.

What I would like to know is what the feeling is about sending a direct message to someone who starts following you with a free offer? By this I mean send them to your opt-in page for whatever you are giving away.

I have read varying opinions about sending an automated message with a sales pitch. Some say do it and others say this is the worst thing you can do and that you should build a relationship with followers first like your opt-in list.

I would love to hear from people who are using Twitter.

I have read all the ebooks and watched loads of videos but as I said you get different opinions. Some recommend sending nothing, not even a free offer and others say direct them to your blog where they can then maybe download a free report or video. Others recommend sending a blatant sales pitch.

Personally I don't mind people sending me a sales pitch if it might be useful.

I suppose its a matter of going with one and testing the waters.

I don't seem to be able to get Twitter together at all and I don't really have time to work it out. So if anyone wants to buy a Twitter account in either the Weightloss x2, or Make Money Online niche I have 3 for sale they have around 13000 - 17000 followers each.

i am using twitter, i couldnt see any improves so far but got some users for my blog. if you're deciding to use, you can choose tynt.com for your blog entiries in order to send automatically to twitter.com.. good works

Hi I'm new to all of this and have to say after reading all the comments I'm still indicided about twitter. Might it be benefical to giving you some name recognition, you never know when people are looking for a particular service they might remember "your Name".. Got to be worth spending the odd minute or so.........

Twitter is turning into the new age safelist for Internet Marketers. Everyone is screaming at you to buy but nobody wants to read to your pitch. Your tweet is Tweet Trash... Mmmm, may be a product there!

Despite what the Twitter IM product sellers tell you it is impossible to make a sustainable income from Twitter alone.

Good points about building relationships but don't you find good forums way more productive and personal?
