Thread: does twitter work?

I've heard that some use twitter for networking? How can I use it in order to create more traffic to my website? Is it true that it's usefull but has too many rules to follow?

Should I added to my website/blog?

Can you share some tips on it? I'd really Appreciate it!

I have been using Twitter for a while and everyone wants to be followed but most people seem to want you to follow them so they can bombard you with their product.

In the end I am not sure anyone buys your product unless it is something essential in their lives.

Trying will do you no harm. it is FREE, anyway.

I am a "Twitter Virgin" and have to confess I am still learning how it works.
Since I joined I have elected to follow about 5 people and since then I have had around 7 notices of people following me, only 2 whom I was familiar with.
Holly swears by it and maintains she gets regular business from it.
Yes, it is free and does no harm to forward info about your site and hope you get feedbacks.
Holly has it down to a fine art and has prepared messages she can send out at intervals without even being on line. I need to learn how to do that.
I guess provided you don't get too engrossed in it to distract you from known ways to earn money, it can't do you any harm.
Every means that can get you a contact and without cost has to be O.K.

I am learing twitter. I know where have I been? I know a few people on twitter and what I have gained is that you will make money with your targeted audience for a specific product. If this makes sense. Then again remember that it is free!

Now it's becoming popular to use twitter for the internet marketing and, like you said it's free, so check on all the information you can use to use twitter. If you keep on checking the forum you'll see some good advices on how to use twitter... a new tool definitely!

I'm new using twitter also, some advice that I've been using is that people that I intent to follow me must know at least a little bit of myself... so they're most likely to be interest in what I'm trading, selling,... etc.

On Twitter you will post your website address which allows your followers to see what you are promoting on your site.

As for sending out messages at intervals, this can be done with an autoresponder.

From the founders of this forum, Nick James loves Twitter and anything Web 2.0 and has about 250 people following him.

On the other hand Tim, who has sold more in 8 years than probably all of us put together about $20,000,000 thinks and these are his words " it is complete and absolute nonsense"...he does make me laugh.

Well there is a 50:50 chance one of them is right. I am on the fence at present....but I can't for the life of me figure out why people want to know you are "going for a bath, got up early this morning bla bla...." But you can include links and link building is what SEO and traffic is all about.

Well, since it's free everytime I post I put a little link to my site incase people are interested... I am having more visitors at least... so it's not harmful and I'm not waisting so much time and it doesn't cost me anything to right my link so... if it works GREAT! and if it doesn't... it's not such a big deal... is it??

I'm a twitter newb, too. I know people who use it a lot, but I haven't yet started trying to utilize it from a marketing perspective. The traffic there is pretty heavy, but if everyone is pushing their own products and services, it might be hard to get people to come over to your niche.

FREE is good! I'll put in a lot of time on anything FREE before I give up on it. I know my time is worth money and all that, but I still like to get something for nothing, especially if it's a lead.

Twitter has more members than other social networks but it won't help you a lot.

Surely a stupid question, not on twitter, but is it legal to put any url to websites on facebook?

I haven't had much luck with twitter. One big problem is they use a nofollow tag so putting your link on a tweet does no good for seo.

To be honest the no follow tags are no necessarily abided by.

There are a significant number of people who are now said to be making serious money from the traffic they are generating from Twitter....as far as I am concerned the jury is still out!

Not sure whether twitter works for marketing, i can see both sides, but as far as the no follow issue... I've never heard of twitter using no follow tags. I just had a look and couldn't see anything in the header - unless i'm missing something.

twitter can be a huge time stealer so you need to get organised and have a game plan otherwise you end up fooling yourself you've been working hard. It's also easy to get sucked into the whole social side.

That said you can get lots of top tips and info and can drive tarffic. you must mix up selling and social tweets.

Have i made any sales? Not direct in truth, but the contacts I have made have led to getting onto a councils intranet and a brokers newsletter so I'm waiting to see if this turns into actual sales
