Yes, you can hurt your rankings not knowing what to do and when. Many new marketers make that mistake.
This is an awesome resource for newbies and veterans alike!

Thanks Cathy1 for these useful tips but I found out that writing article+you tube+twitter videos are very beneficial and generate considerable traffic to my blogs. But it all depends on the type products/services your are promoting.
I don't really like the idea on having too many blogs. The big guys that teach how to make money blogging have the resources to outsource or they have corporates and offices.
What I like is building highly targeted mini site build on wordpress platform and then work on one site at a time and repeat the process. This is much easier than focusing on one blog as it needs updating very often.
It is very important to follow these steps before starting a mini site.
Niche market selection
Keyword research and buying keywords
Products names keywords
Competition
Unique content
seo
Site layout
inlinking
With the power of wordpress I don't go wrong with this strategy as I am sure to get some traffic no matter what. The key is to choose less competitive longtail keywords.
There are many creative ways to increase traffic to your website. Trading links with other websites that are closely related to the subject of your website can bring you more website traffic. Advertise your blog in internet marketing company like expertadvertisingsolutions.com

Azyrex, I agree I have one blog, which most of the community know,
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
, to which I submit posts just about every day. The site is well optimized for about 4 high value Business Opportunity key words, is clean, focused, full of functionality and it drives well over a 1000 uniques each and every day.
Like you say, you really don't need lots of multi blogs.
Be focused...

This is the approach I have just adopted. The hardest part is the keyword research/competition analysis. It seems to be more of an art than a science.

Hello,
10 way to get traffic to your blog
1. Set up an email subscription form on your blog and invite everyone in your network to subscribe: family, friends, colleagues, clients, associates.
2. Set up a feed on MyYahoo.com so your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo search engine.
3. Read and comment on other blogs that are in your target niche. Don't write things like "nice blog" or "great post." Write intelligent, useful comments with a link to your blog.
4. Use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories. Do this every time you publish.
5. Submit your blog to traditional search engines.
6. Submit your blog to blog directories.
Tip: Create a form to track your submissions; this can take several hours when you first start so schedule an hour a day for submitting or hire a VA to do it for you.
7. Add a link to your blog in your email signature file.
8. Put a link to your blog on every page of your website.
9. If you publish a newsletter, make sure you have a link to your blog in every issue.
Thanks
Vicky: another nice list to add to the list at the beginning of this thread.
The points brought up in this thread can apply to non-affiliate program blogs as well and so could really be in the Traffic Generation category of the forum.
