    Default Re List Management systems

Kevin, are you suggesting that this is a software download that you can install on your own web server?

I have a couple of questions...

To start off, is it better to rent an email campaign system or buy the software to run on your own site?

I see some simple comparison points:

Rent = You can use it for as long as you need and pay monthly and no technical knowledge required to set up on your own server. Most probably limited to a single login user.
Buy = You can use it for other affiliates down line form you i.e. unlimited users, however more technical as you will most probably need to install it on your own server.

I suppose you could rent until you make some money, and then purchase a system and import your contacts from one system to the other? Obviously over time you will get more experience and so the technical aspects we become less daunting

    One important issue is deliverability

Sure software - even free - exists to run on your own site, however your own domain will not be verified by ISPs - AOL for example severely limits the number of emails to a handful a day unles you go through a tortuous process to get accepted.

Use a respected list handler like aweber and deliverability is a lot better.

Any reputable autoresponder will do the trick of managing your list. I'd steer clear of the black hat stuff, because it will ruin your reputation in a hurry.

Quite right Mihira, however if you want to start to build a serious online business, I would say that an autoresponder is an indispensible investment.

You can rent one on a monthly basis like Aweber for $19 pm for up to 500 customers, or you can pay about $300 and buy one outright with no limit on the number of customers who can subscribe. The purchase routes vary according to power and complexity, but a really good start would be:

    [uinterspire.]Shopping Cart Software | Ecommerce Software - Interspire[/url]

Once at the Interspire site, click on Email Marketer.

Domain, autoresponder, squeeze page, free product to give away and a relationship building sequence of emails, is all you need to be successful online.....plus a solid amount of patience and tenacity.

    Hi Kevin
Sorry, but I dont think aweber has a limit of 500, I personally use them myself & my database definitely holds more than 500 email addresses & all I pay is the $19 every month

A list management service is of uppermost importance, there are several good ones out there; mailloop, getresponse & aweber. I have used all three and in my opinion aweber is the best, it will only cost you $19 a month which is a huge bargain compared to the benefits it offers

    Steve,

There are programs that you can run on your own pc or online webserver. The main thing to worry about especially if you are new is that it is so easy to get yourself banned and your isp terminate your site that the likes of aweber are often easier as they control the system and bounce backs etc. The last thing you need is to get your own domain name blocked.

I'm going to try Aweber, I've heard nothing but positive things about it.

I'm still contemplating on this... gvo that gives out an autoresponder service was just launched and holly has been actively promoting it too. but i'm still not sure whether I have the courage to jump into something like monthly installments.

i'd rather have a one-time software that i can manage & control remotely.
i just wished some of the open-source list management are more user-friendly & delivers!
    Cheers!
