Thread: Are You Killing Your Article Traffic? 2 Simple Ways To Explode Your CTR

If you follow the basic templates for article writing you may very well be sabotaging your own success.

There are two simple ways of turning your article CTR from a trickle to a raging river.

Many people make two common mistakes when writing articles for submission to article directories. They put up subconscious road blocks at the end that will literally stop readers in their tracks and prevent them from clicking through to their websites.

These roadblocks are:

1. The final paragraph
2. The resource box

99% of article writers get this wrong. I bet almost all of you start your final paragraph with words something to this effect; "In summary", "To sum it all up", or something similar.

This is a HUGE mistake. What you are essentially telling your reader is that they need not read any further because you have already told them everything.

Instead, you should keep giving them info right to the very end and letting them know there is much more to be learned about the subject.

The second mistake is using your resource box to stroke your own ego instead of inviting them to get more info on the subject.
Do not give your bio in the resource box. What you should be saying is "I have only scratched the surface on this topic. To find out more...visit my site which goes into much more detail on the subject.

That's it....just two simple little changes to the way you write your article and you will get tons more traffic as your articles will act like funnels to your site.

Your welcome. I admit I was as guilty of roadblocking my articles as the next person at the start. It does make a really big difference though in the amount of traffic you get from your articles.

Thanks Keith,

I think we were all taught in school that a good story should have an introduction, body and conclusion. If we stick to that format for article marketing we are losing site of the whole purpose of doing the article in the first place.

You need to make sure you deliver what your headline promises within the story, such as 3 tips for...whatever, but with a proper final paragraph and resource box it is like taking them by the hand and leading them to your website.

You are right. It is all about the little tweaks that can have a big impact on conversions and ctr. Usually it is just the simplest thing that can have the biggest impact.

Excellent. I will start employing them right away. I can see I have finally found a place to get good advice.

Would you share some ideas on closing the articles leading to the bio.

Hi Cathy,

That's a great tip - it sounds obvious doesn't it?

But you do need to be clear and let the reader know there's a lot more to it than what is in your article.

I'll be testing this tip out!

Too many times I see resource boxes with just a couple of links in them - how is this going to entice readers to find out more?
